We’re seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to support Mining & Metals team. This role will lead the structural design and analysis of mining projects from concept through detailed design, procurement, and construction. This role involves designing steel and concrete structures, evaluating and modifying existing facilities, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and providing technical guidance to engineers and designers.
The successful candidate will also work directly with clients and contractors, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Canadian codes and standards. Prepare cost effective structural engineering designs from conceptual design to detail design, tender and construction in accordance with Canadian Codes and Standards. Perform analysis and design of steel structures and concrete foundations for industrial and mining projects.
Perform site visits and inspect existing structures. Perform evaluation and analysis of existing structures for modifications and additions, and propose reinforcement solutions. Prepare specifications, design criteria, scope of work and material take-off.
Complete tasks under minimal supervision ensuring that objectives of cost, quality and time are met. Supervise the work of designers and other engineers on the project team. Be able to work directly with drafting staff in order to produce detailed drawing packages.
Liaise with client representatives and general contractors directly Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural engineering from a recognized University. (Master’s degree would be considered an asset). ~12+ years experience in structural design of mining and industrial projects. ~ Thorough understanding of the design of various building structures and systems for industrial, and mining projects. ~ Proficiency in design of steel structures, reinforced concrete structures,
and various types of heavy concrete foundations for buildings and equipment. (Masonry and wood framed structural design experience would be considered an asset). ~ Proficiency US and International Codes and Standards is an asset) ~ Proficiency in structural engineering design software SAP 2000,STAAD. Math Cad and Microsoft Office products.
Experience with AutoCad, NavisWorks and Smart Plant would be considered an asset ~ Experienced in dealing with clients and contractors directly. ~ All applications are reviewed by a member of our team and are not automatically screened or rejected by AI.
