Experienced Underground Utility Locator

All Star Line Locating is a locally owned buried-facility locating company serving Grande Prairie and surrounding areas. We provide skilled utility locating services for oilfield, commercial, environmental, and residential clients.

We are currently looking for an experienced Underground Utility Locator to join our growing team. The successful applicant must have previous locating experience, be dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently in the field.

Responsibilities

- Locate underground utilities including gas lines, electrical cables, water and sewer lines, telecommunications, pipelines, and other buried facilities.
- Read and interpret site plans, facility maps, drawings, blueprints, and electronic mapping systems.
- Operate line locating equipment, transmitters, receivers, sondes, clamps, and other locating tools.
- Accurately mark buried facilities using paint, flags, stakes, or other approved methods.
- Complete accurate field sketches, measurements, photos, and documentation for completed locates.
- Communicate clearly with clients, contractors, excavation crews, landowners, and other personnel on site.
- Complete locate requests and required documentation in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate daily work records, job information, and field reports.
- Follow all company and client health and safety requirements.
- Complete daily hazard assessments, vehicle inspections, and other required safety documentation.
- Transport, maintain, and care for locating equipment and supplies.




- Work independently while maintaining communication with management and clients.
- Travel throughout Grande Prairie and surrounding areas as required.
- Perform additional duties related to line locating and damage prevention when required.

Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of previous underground utility locating experience.
- Strong understanding of locating methods and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, site plans, and facility records.
- Experience working around oilfield, construction, excavation, or utility operations is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document field findings.
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple locate requests.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Able to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions.
- Able to work safely around traffic, construction equipment, pipelines, and active work sites.
- Dependable, professional, and committed to completing high-quality work.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.

Required Licences & Certifications
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Acceptable driver’s abstract.
- First Aid/CPR is an asset.
- CSTS, WHMIS, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance, CSO, and other oilfield safety certifications are considered assets.

Additional Requirements Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

The position may require travel, overtime, early mornings, and extended hours depending on workload and client requirements.
