The Regional Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Local Department Head at Eagle Ridge Hospital. Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose, and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families: The Local Department Head shall be an Active Staff Member unless the candidate is a practitioner recruited specifically for the role (in which case the candidate would be appointed to the Provisional category of the Medical Staff until such time as the practitioner is eligible for promotion to the Active category), and who is assigned to the Regional Department and to that facility as the Member’s Primary Site and a member of the Regional Department. Participating in the Site Operations Committee or equivalent for the Facility.

Functioning as the channel of communication to and from the Regional Department to keep Members practicing within the Facility informed regarding Fraser Health, HAMAC and Departmental objectives, policies, and general activities and to ensure Regional Departments are aware of issues specific to the Facility. In collaboration with the Regional Department Head, recommending appointment of practitioners, renewal of Medical Staff membership and privileges December 2020. Ensuring the requirements of programs operating within the Facility are co-ordinated.

Investigating and documenting complaints regarding care provided by Members within the Department at the Facility under the direction of the appropriate Regional Department Head and/or Site Medical Director where appropriate.



Reviewing with the Regional Department Head the human resource requirements of the Regional Department practicing within the Facility. Establishing a growth mindset that inspires individuals to gain knowledge and skills required for change while demonstrating emotional intelligence through skilled conversation and communication.

Encouraging others to learn and embrace recent ways of doing things as well as build resiliency while providing support, coaching and encouragement to formal leadership or influences of change. Physician licensed to practice in British Columbia with the eligibility for appointment as a member of the local site(s). Five years of medical leadership experience or equivalent, with an interest in development of leadership expertise.

Knowledge & Expertise Professional/Technical Capabilities Understanding of clinical information systems and other ancillary solutions is an asset.

Experience with clinical informatics or digital technology in healthcare is an asset The term of appointment as Local Department Head shall be for three (3) years, renewable by the Regional Department Head. In recommending re-appointment of a Regional Divisional Head the Regional Department Head shall consider the results of annual performance reviews.
