Worker II – General Maintenance Crew ~ Provides general maintenance, repair and labour services to support grounds, roads and facilities maintenance in all seasons; construction and installations; and other general maintenance and repair requirements for Parks Canada Agency.

Worker II – Winter Track Setter ~ Maintenance Worker II – Trail Crew ~ Provides general maintenance, repair and labour services to support backcountry trail and infrastructure maintenance and construction; and other general maintenance and repair requirements for Parks Canada Agency. Our dedicated, multidisciplinary teams work together to maintain and improve our unique infrastructure to ensure long-term environmental sustainability, conservation of built heritage, and great visitor experiences. Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance. Possession and maintenance of a valid class 5 driver’s licence or provincial equivalent Will be required to undergo and pass pre-placement and periodic medical checks Possession and maintenance of a wilderness first aid certificate (only for Stream 2 - Trail Crew) Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and personal protective equipment Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and / or statutory holidays and provincial / territorial holidays Willingness to assist in forest fire suppression, including stand-by and extra duty. Willingness to obtain and maintain valid chainsaw certification (only for Stream 2 -Trail Crew) Successful completion of secondary school according to provincial standards or acceptable combination of education, experience and training.
Experience planning and carrying out construction and/or maintenance tasks in a team environment EXPERIENCE (STREAM 1 – General Maintenance Crew) Experience performing general maintenance tasks as they relate to: groundskeeping, road maintenance and basic carpentry Experience operating and maintaining a variety of equipment used for grounds and maintenance activities,
including snow removal equipment (e.g., skid steers and tractors), mini excavators, lawn tractors, mowers, chainsaws, trailers, and/or backhoes.
EXPERIENCE (STREAM 2 – Trail Crew) ~ Experience in overnight backcountry travel by foot, in mountainous settings KNOWLEDGE (STREAM 1 - General Maintenance Crew) ~ Knowledge of safe work practices associated with the operation of light mechanized equipment, trailering and regular maintenance procedures Ability to identify problems, conduct basic inspections, identify required repair and maintenance, plan and implement appropriate remediation PERSONAL SUITABILITY (3 STREAMS) Language requirements (essential for the job) ASSET QUALIFICATIONS The asset qualifications are not essential to the job but may be an asset in carrying out the duties of the position.
