GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and in Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Materials Technician to join our Team. We currently have an opening for a casual Materials Technician in our Fredericton, NB office.

Collect samples and perform laboratory and field testing of various construction materials, such as concrete, asphalt, soils, aggregates, etc., to determine material properties and quality. Compaction testing of soil, aggregates, and asphalt concrete; Testing of fresh concrete/grout/mortar and casting of laboratory specimens; Conduct inspections and assessments of construction sites, document findings and provide detailed reports on test results, including analysis and recommendations. Prepare detailed and accurate field reports for use by project managers and engineers.





Maintain effective communication with project teams, providing regular updates on field activities and findings. Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability. Collaborate with the project team to troubleshoot and resolve any materials-related issues.

Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the field, promoting a safe working workplace. Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field. Previous experience in materials testing and inspection is preferred.

Knowledge of relevant testing methods and procedures, including ASTM and CSA standards. CCIL Certifications in testing of asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and soils.
