Our client in the heavy-duty space is looking for a Shop Heavy Duty Mechanic in a non-unionized environment in Sooke/Victoria.

This role is a daytime position with a starting time at 7 AM or 8 AM, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime for any on-call emergencies and no weekend work. Preference is given to those in the heavy-duty mechanic, commercial transport, and millwright trades. Preference is given to those holding a Red Seal certificate.

Performing assembly, disassembly, and repair of hydraulic components, cranes, lifts, and additional mobile equipment. Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment in accordance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications. Diagnose equipment by locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems,



and using precision measuring and testing instruments.

Ensure proper operation of equipment through checks and tests. Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment. Interpret technical manuals to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and warranty requirements.

Execute routine scheduled Planned Maintenance (PM) services, appraisals, and Safety Inspections. Use of computerized maintenance management software (CMMS). Developing maintenance schedules for major and minor equipment as well as facility needs (PM’s) Comfortable working fully on-site. ~ Red Seal certification in Commercial Transport, Heavy Duty Mechanic, or Millwright preferred. 3+ years of experience in a heavy-duty mechanic space, performing repairs on cranes, skid steers, hydraulic systems, engines, and mobile equipment.

Welding and electrical knowledge is a solid asset. ~ Paid long-term disability. ~ An apprenticeship program is available and covered by the employer. ~
