Toronto is an established leader in controls integration, project management, and engineering services for a wide range of clients in a variety of industries. The main industries we support include but are not limited to Food & Beverage, Brewing, Life Sciences and Energy industry. This is a full time permanent role reporting directly to the Operations Manager – Industrial Automation.
The Mechanical
Designer will play a critical role in the design and development of mechanical systems for industrial automation projects. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure that all designs meet functional, safety, and manufacturability requirements. Assignments will consist of projects within the Greater Toronto Area with the potential of projects to be located across Canada/USA.
Travel to customer sites is expected and the incumbent must be comfortable working at customer sites for varying amounts of time.
Utilize
SolidWorks to create detailed 3D models and renderings. Design and develop complex weldments and assemblies, ensuring structural integrity and manufacturability. Create sheet metal parts, including flat patterns and bend allowances.
Produce detailed drawing packages with accurate dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and deadlines. Provide technical support throughout fabrication and installation.
Troubleshoot and resolve design issues, ensuring high-quality and reliable products. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and manufacturing processes. Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Specialist or similar role.
Proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling and rendering. Strong understanding of weldments, assemblies, and sheet metal design.
Experience with creating detailed drawing packages and technical documentation. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Valid class G driver's license and personal transportation to travel to customer job sites Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
Experience with other CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor). Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
Certification in SolidWorks (e.g., Experience with 3D scanning tools and workflows. Travel is required within Ontario, Canada and outside of Canada. May be exposed to cold, heat and humidity, loud noise levels, and dust.
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals. Overtime as required. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
