Ascension Automation Solutions is looking for a skilled and motivated Metal Fabricator to join our team. This is a fabrication and fitting position — not a welding-only position. The successful candidate will be responsible for reading drawings, measuring, laying out, cutting, fitting, assembling, and welding custom components and structures to exact specifications.

The majority of the work is completed independently, and the ability to accurately interpret drawings, determine dimensions, fit components together, and produce quality fabricated parts is essential. Welding is an important part of the position, but candidates must be comfortable and experienced with the complete fabrication process from measurement and layout through fitting, assembly, and final welding. Ability to accurately measure, fit, align, tack, and assemble components before final welding Minimum 3 years of MIG and Stick welding experience required; TIG welding is an asset Current CWB welding ticket(s) considered an asset Solid knowledge of the properties and characteristics of various metals and other materials Ability to determine appropriate materials, dimensions, tolerances, and fabrication methods from drawings and specifications Ability to work closely with mechanical designers, welders, machinists, other trades, and supervisors to confirm measurements, calculations, fit-up, and fabrication requirements Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work Flexible and adaptable as project requirements and timelines change The Metal Fabricator will be responsible for producing custom parts, assemblies, frames, guards, and other fabricated components while working from accurate measurements, drawings,



specifications, and instructions.

Review drawings, blueprints, sketches, instructions, and sample parts to understand project specifications Measure, mark, lay out, cut, and prepare materials for fabrication Fit and assemble components accurately prior to welding Use fabrication and fitting techniques to ensure components are properly aligned, square, level, and positioned Plan and organize the sequence of work required to complete a project efficiently Perform MIG and Stick welding as required; TIG welding is an asset Perform quality control on completed pieces to ensure they meet drawings, specifications, and required tolerances Identify and troubleshoot fabrication, fit-up, dimensional, and welding issues Make adjustments and corrections as required to achieve proper fit and finished dimensions Perform routine maintenance and inspections of fabrication equipment Follow all company Health and Safety policies and procedures This position is not intended for someone whose experience is primarily limited to welding. Candidates should be comfortable taking a drawing or sketch and independently working through the fabrication process, including:



Read drawing → Measure → Layout → Cut → Fit → Align → Tack → Weld → Inspect The ability to accurately fit and assemble components before welding is a key requirement of this position. Senior: $30.00–$35.00/hour Established in 2013, Ascension Automation Solutions is an expert in the field of industrial robotics, specializing in robotic manufacturing applications and providing everything from system design to machine commissioning. We tackle a wide range of projects, including custom automation design and build, machine retrofits, automation integration, maintenance, and service. Diploma or certification in Welding, Metal Fabrication, or a related trade is an asset Minimum 3 years of MIG / Stick welding experience required TIG welding experience is an asset Current CWB welding ticket(s) considered an asset Red Seal in Fabrication / Welding is an asset Vacation, starting at 2 weeks for the first year Flex-time work schedule Training to support growth and development Dental care Disability insurance Life insurance On-site parking Overtime pay MIG / Stick Welding: 3 years (required) CWB Welding Ticket (preferred) Red Seal in Fabrication / Welding (preferred) Ability to commute/relocate: ~ Cambridge, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) Pay: $24.00-$35.00 per hour
