The Mining Operations Safety

Manager will lead the safety strategy for Anglo American’s Kimberley operations, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international best practices. This role is central to protecting personnel, equipment, and the workplace, while fostering a proactive safety culture across all levels of the workforce. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering, production, and HR teams to design, implement, and monitor safety programs that reduce risk and enhance operational efficiency.

visit This position offers a unique opportunity to influence safety standards in a dynamic mining environment, contributing directly to the company’s reputation for excellence in South Africa. Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive safety policies and procedures for the Kimberley mining site. Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential threats.

Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analyses, and corrective action plans to prevent recurrence. Provide safety training and mentorship to all employees, contractors, and visitors, ensuring awareness of best practices. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to integrate safety considerations into project design and execution.

Monitor compliance with South African mining safety regulations and international standards such as ISO 45001. Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior management and external regulators. Strong knowledge of mining safety legislation, standards, and best practices.

Proven ability to lead safety initiatives in complex, high‑risk environments. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for training and stakeholder engagement. Proficiency in safety management software and data analysis tools.

Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in safety practices. A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH,



or a recognized South African safety qualification are highly desirable and will be considered an asset.

The ideal candidate will have 5‑8 years of progressive experience in mining safety management, with a proven track record of reducing incident rates and implementing effective safety programs.

Experience in South African mining operations is preferred, though international experience in comparable environments is also valuable. The role offers a competitive salary range of SSP 600,000 to 900,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided based on safety metrics and overall operational success.
