: Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Resident Care Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the highest standard of care and service is provided to residents/veterans on a given unit. As an experienced practitioner, the resident care coordinator acts in a leadership role to provide specialized clinical expertise, coordination of resident care, and support and teaching to the resident care team (including residents and residents' families) within a collaborative setting. The routine procedures are generally predetermined but critical thinking and independent judgment is an integral part of the position.

Licenses

- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)

Education

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Experience

- Minimum of three (3) years relevant long term care nursing experience





Knowledge and Abilities

- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Facilitates the implementation/evaluation/design for client centered care model
- Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of mental health needs of adults & families, & clinical interventions
- Work as a team member, can establish & maintain interpersonal relationships
- Ability to be self-directed
- Ability to implement and support a collaborative working environment
- Demonstrates ability to accept and implement change

Other Education and Training

- Nursing diploma is acceptable
- Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable
- Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing is acceptable

- Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)

- Scheduled hours of work may be reduced when a statutory holiday is recognized
