Duties

- Plan and deliver engaging art lessons tailored to different age groups and skill levels, incorporating a variety of artistic techniques and materials.
- Develop curriculum materials that align with Ontario Ministry Curriculum educational standards while encouraging innovative exploration.
- Assess student progress regularly through projects, critiques, and written feedback, providing constructive guidance to support growth.
- Maintain a well-organized classroom environment that promotes safety, creativity, and respect among students.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate art into interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
- Support students with special education needs by adapting instruction methods and materials to ensure inclusive participation.
- Organize exhibitions or showcases of student artwork to celebrate achievements and foster community engagement.

Skills
- Proven classroom experience in teaching art or related subjects, demonstrating effective instructional techniques.




- Strong communication skills to clearly convey artistic concepts and provide meaningful feedback.
- Excellent writing skills for preparing lesson plans, assessments, and student evaluations.
- Organizational skills to manage classroom materials, schedules, and student portfolios efficiently.
- Qualifications in Special Education Specialist and Social Sciences would be an asset.

About Attawapiskat First Nation

Attawapiskat is a remote fly-in Cree community on the west coast of James Bay and north of Timmins. Vezina Secondary School is a Grade 9 to Grade 12 school, with the student population of about 150.

The school year calendar reflects the culture and interests of the community and staff.
