Operations Manager The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of The Bottle Shop Recycling Depot Inc including customer service, staff supervision, health and safety, site cleanliness, inventory control, cash handling, and efficient processing of beverage containers.

The Operations Manager provides leadership to the Bottle Depot team and ensures that operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable company policies, regulatory requirements, and recycling program standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations

- Oversee daily operations of the beverage recycling centre to ensure an efficient and positive customer experience.
- Ensure beverage containers are received, sorted, counted, stored, and prepared for processing/transportation in accordance with established procedures.
- Monitor workflow, staffing levels, equipment, and facility conditions.
- Coordinate shipments, and deliveries as required.
- Identify operational issues and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency and service.

Staff Leadership
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and support employees.
- Establish clear expectations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Prepare employee schedules and manage attendance, vacation, and other staffing requirements.
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, and respectful workplace practices.
- Address employee performance and workplace issues in accordance with company policies.

Customer Service
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers.
- Resolve customer questions, concerns, and complaints promptly and appropriately.
- Ensure employees follow customer-service standards and Bottle Depot procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming customer area.

Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe workplace for employees and customers.




- Ensure employees follow all applicable health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and address hazards promptly.
- Lead weekly safety talks to share safety ideas and seek feedback.
- Ensure appropriate use of personal protective equipment and safe operating procedures.
- Maintain required records, documentation, permits, and operational reports.

Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage daily cash handling, reconciliations, and related documentation.
- Monitor centre expenses and assist with budgeting and financial controls.
- Maintain accurate operational, employee, inventory, and financial records.
- Monitor inventory and supplies and arrange replenishment as required.

Facility & Equipment
- Ensure the facility, equipment, vehicles, and work areas are maintained in clean and safe working condition.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and report equipment failures or facility issues.
- Monitor equipment use and ensure employees are properly trained before operating machinery.
- Work with contractors and service providers when required.

Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or management experience, preferably in a retail, warehouse, recycling, logistics, or customer-service environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop employees.
- Strong customer-service and problem-solving skills.
- Basic financial, cash-handling,



and administrative experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications, including email and Google or similar software.
- Class 5 Driver license.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements is an asset.
- Experience in the recycling or beverage-container industry is an asset.
- Forklift experience is an asset.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials as required.
- Ability to work around noise, machinery, varying temperatures, and other conditions typical of a recycling facility.
- Ability to safely perform or supervise physical tasks associated with beverage-container handling.

Working Conditions
- Full-time position with hours that may include evenings and weekends depending on centre operating hours. (current hours of operation are Tues-Fri 10-530 and Sat 9-430)
- Work is performed in both customer-facing and warehouse environments.
- The position requires regular interaction with employees and members of the public.

Success in This Role Success in this position means maintaining a secure, clean, efficient, and customer-focused recycling centre while developing a reliable team, maintaining accurate records and financial controls, and ensuring consistent compliance with operational and safety requirements.

Pay: $28.00-$33.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
