Description of position:

Assist members in choosing eyeglass frames. Assist members with sunglass selection. Ring up orders. Stock merchandise and supplies, clean department. Provide prompt and courteous service at all times.

Daily tasks and responsibilities:

· Assists members in choosing eyeglass frames and sunglasses.

· Provides and ensures prompt, welcoming and courteous member service.

· Assists in providing members with support in booking doctor appointments.

· Where provincial regulations permit: Assists doctor in managing appointments, provides accurate patient filing, welcomes members to the OD practice, and conducts accurate ophthalmic pre-tests.

· Rings up orders and over-the-counter merchandise. Receives accurate payment, makes change, processes, cheques, credit and debit charges according to proper procedures for paperwork, cash handling and performance of duties.

· Orders equipment, merchandise, and supplies by keying into computer. Follows safety and security procedures.

· Stocks merchandise and supplies. Follows department procedures and standards for production, record keeping, merchandising and product storage.

· Cleans and updates all contact lens files.

· Cleans department and doctor offices by spraying, wiping and mopping. Empties trash, operates trash compactor and cardboard bailer.

· Repairs member frames and glasses.

· Provides a high level of customer service.

· Meets department goals, such as sales and member service.





· Completes weekly comp shops on a rotational basis and records entries.

· Answers all telephone calls.

· Assists in other areas of the department as needed.

Non-essential functions and tasks

· Assists in other areas of the warehouse as necessary.

Typical schedule

- Typical shifts and days off will be discussed at the time of the interview.

Range of shifts and hours from Monday to Friday (8 AM to 9 PM) and Saturday to Sunday (8 AM to 7:30 PM)

Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills that candidates must possess)

· Education/Training: High school diploma or GED preferred. Recognized dispensing opticians course is an asset.

· Permits/Licenses/Certifications: None.

· Experience: Candidates with previous optical experience will be given preference over other candidates.

· Knowledge/Skills: Must be able to work with small tools to conduct repairs. Proven knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs is required. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Excellent customer service skills required. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and multi-task is an asset.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 25.0 per week
