Classroomobservation is one component of the full-time and contract faculty performance appraisalpolicy at Durham College.
It is designed to improve student outcomes byproviding formative feedback on faculty performance. The Paralegal programs atDurham College are accredited with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO).
The Paralegal
ClassroomObserver reviews the content and delivery of a course lesson and,
using acollege-approved template, provides feedback that both acknowledges strengthsand suggests areas for further career development where required. This is apart-time, casual position. Review class lesson plan and/or faculty-provided materials in advance of the classroom observation, as appropriate
- Utilize principles of adult teaching and learning to conduct in-person classroom observations as assigned by the Executive Dean, Dean or Associate Dean
- Participate in training or other activities with the Centre for Teaching and Learning, as directed. Required to be a current licensee with the Law Society of Ontario and possess a master’s degree in Law (LLM)
- Demonstrated knowledge of teaching and learning methodologies appropriate for adult learning, including Universal Design for Learning and AODA standards
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite as well as utilizing learning management systems and other educational technologies
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace
- Able to work independently, and with a flexible schedule.
