We are seeking an attentive and task-oriented self-starter, to provide administrative support to the human resources and payroll functions, as the Payroll & Human Resources Administrator. Ensuring that employee data, payroll preparation, processing of employee changes, and record maintenance is completed on time and with accuracy, this role requires meticulous attention to detail and exceptional time management skills.

The Payroll & Human Resources Administrator is a highly effective communicator, possessing advanced software proficiency to maximize and seamlessly manage competing and recurring tasks, as well as multiple deadlines. This position works closely with Human Resources, Finance, management, supervisors, and employees. You will be expected to provide reliable back-up payroll coverage, and support the organization in maintaining accurate, confidential, and audit-ready employee records.

Skills & Requirements

- Must provide a Criminal record check if employment is accepted.




- Must be available Monday to Friday.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Post-secondary education or training in Human Resources, Payroll, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, is preferred.
- Previous experience in payroll, Human Resources administration, or a related administrative role, is preferred.
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation, or progress toward these designation, is preferred.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office – specifically Excel, MS Office365, as well as proficiency in most office software platforms, is preferred.
- Experience working with payroll and HRIS systems is considered an asset.
- Team-based attitude and positive engagement with all divisions of HPL, as well as working collaboratively with Human Resources, Finance, supervisors, and employees.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.
- Appropriate handling of confidential and sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.
- This position is considered a safety sensitive position; the successful applicant will be required to complete pre-employment medical testing that includes a drug and alcohol screening.
