Montreal

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Introduction

Department / Research Program: Disease Mechanisms and Discovery in Tissue Fibrosis or Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma - Surgical and Interventional Sciences The Postdoctoral Fellow will participate in fundamental and translational research focused on fibrosis, tissue repair, or oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Research projects aim to elucidate the molecular and cellular mechanisms governing disease initiation, progression, and resolution, while identifying and validating novel targets. The laboratory employs molecular and cellular biology approaches, in vitro and in vivo preclinical models.

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the successful candidate will lead independent research projects and contribute to experimental design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, grant applications, and trainee mentorship.

Responsibilities and Objectives

- Conduct Independent Research: Lead and execute original research projects under the supervision of the PI, contributing to the generation of new data and ideas within the lab's focus area.
- Investigate Fundamental Disease Mechanisms: Elucidate the molecular and cellular pathways underlying tissue fibrosis or oral squamous cell carcinoma progression using mechanistic and functional approaches.
- Target Discovery: Identify and validate novel biological targets that may lead to innovative therapeutic strategies.
- Experimental Design and Data Analysis: Design, perform, and troubleshoot experiments, collect, analyze, and interpret data using appropriate statistical and computational methods.
- Mentorship and Supervision: Mentor graduate and undergraduate students, provide training and guidance in experimental protocols and data analysis.
- Maintain Lab Records and Compliance: Ensure accurate record-keeping of experimental protocols, results, and reagents,

maintain compliance with institutional and funding agency regulations, including safety and ethics protocols.

Standards of performance

- Deliver high-quality, reproducible research and maintain accurate laboratory records.
