Title: Falcon Peak Program Coordinator
24 hrs/week, rate negotiable based on experience
Additional hours are possible if full time is desired depending on skill set and program needs.

Are you an organized person who is passionate about working with children and youth? Do you have a curious approach to learning, and want to strengthen your community?
Chickadee NEST is hiring a Program Coordinator to lead our Falcon Peak Pilot program and support stability and growth of Chickadee NEST. This leader will be a mentor to youth, support our programming and help strengthen our relationships with community partner orgranizations.
Chickadee NEST is a nature-rooted organization that offers weekday, seasonal, and PD day programs to children and youth aged 6-12 who would benefit from a land- or community-based complement to their academic routine. NEST staff mentor kids with diverse strengths, interests, and learning styles as they explore, build skills, and grow through land based, interest led experiences .
Falcon Peak is a pilot drop in program for youth (aged 10-14) who would benefit from a few hours each week to connect, reset, and explore what interests them. This program is connection-centred, focusing on co-regulation and positive redirection. Youth are encouraged to trust and explore their interests through play, life skill building, and hands-on experiences that foster confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
We are looking for a strong passionate leader for youth, who can help us to grow this program into a full time offering for the 2027-28 school year.

Start date: As early as October 9 or once a suitable candidate is found.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
- Enjoys working with children, youth and families
- Is highly organized, attentive to details, and dependable
- Has exceptional emotional regulation and co-regulation skills
- Has a passion, skill, cultural knowledge, or lived experiences they want to share
- Is curiosity-driven, collaborative and enthusiastic
- Values community, inclusion, and connection
- Has an interest in outdoor and land-based learning and is comfortable spending time outside in all weather, and in our tent program space
What You’ll Do:
- Coordinate, plan, and facilitate programming for children and youth
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Programs and other team members
- Provide 1:1 support to children
- Facilitate and support group programming
- Prepare program spaces and sites before programming
- Support inventory management and organization of program materials
- Coordinate Summer Camps, Seasonal Camps, and Monthly Community Events
- Lead the Falcon Peak Program by mentoring youth - taking them out on the land or into the community during the day, and finding creative ways to support them in their project initiatives
- Contribute to a nurturing, engaging, and supportive environment for children, youth and families
- Use and learn continuously about the Chickadee NEST approach, and other supportive approaches to youth empowerment.

Requirements:
- Experience working with children and/or youth
- Genuine enjoyment for working with children and youth
- Experience working with children with diverse needs is an asset
- Experience or skills in land-based programming is an asset
- Knowledge, and skills in Indigenous or cross-cultural approaches to learning, mental health, cultural, and/or land-based skills are highly desirable but not required.
- Expertise and/or training of any kind in developmental needs, supports, or learning approaches is highly desirable.
- Familiarity or experience working with many community organizations, cultures, or stakeholder groups in the region is highly desirable.
- A valid driver’s license
- Criminal Record Check

- Preference will be given to candidates with an interest and availability to commit to the team in a long term/permanent capacity
