At Sunterra Market, is a key contributor to our store’s success. You’ll support in receiving operations, ensuring that all incoming goods are accurate, fresh, and efficiently processed. When needed, you’ll support our delivery team by using your own vehicle to transport catering and grocery orders within always with care, professionalism, and punctuality.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role that blends logistics, customer service, and teamwork. You’ll help maintain our high standards by ensuring accurate inventory, clean and safe workspaces, and timely deliveries. Whether behind the scenes or on the road, you’ll embody Sunterra’s values of honesty, integrity, pride, care, people, and community.
You play a central role in product flow from back door to sales floor. You will receive, verify, and organize inbound deliveries, maintain accurate documentation and inventory movement, and stock and merchandise Grocery to Sunterra standards (FIFO, freshness, presentation, and rotation). You will also support a clean, safe, and well‑maintained facility, performing routine sanitation and basic general maintenance to keep our store operating smoothly.
This is a dynamic, hands‑on role that blends logistics, merchandising, and teamwork—rooted in Sunterra’s values of honesty, integrity, pride, care, people, and community.
Availability: Monday - Friday 8AM - 4PM
Duties & Responsibilities
Receiving & Inventory Flow
- Receive, unpack, inspect, in accordance with company procedures.
- Verify quantities, product codes, freshness, and quality against invoices/packing slips.
- Record and reconcile receiving documentation (transfer sheets, invoices, credits) in manual or electronic systems.
- Organize back room, cooler(s), and freezer(s) for safe, efficient access and accurate rotation.
- Stage product by department and coordinate timely movement to the sales floor.
- Prepare and pack goods for transfer to other Sunterra locations, as required.
- Communicate delivery discrepancies, shorts, damages, or quality concerns promptly to the buyer or leadership.
- Participate in inventory counts and cycle counts; help identify and prevent shrink.
Grocery Stocking & Merchandising
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays following FIFO, date checks, and category/planogram standards.
- Maintain visual standards, shelf tags, facing, and clean, organized aisles.
- Support seasonal promotions, end caps, and features; execute price changes as directed.
- Replenish throughout the day; backstock responsibly with clear labelling and rotation.
- Provide product knowledge or assistance to team members and guests as needed.
Sanitation & General Maintenance
- Perform routine sanitation of receiving areas, back room, floors, shelving, equipment exteriors, washrooms, and high‑touch surfaces.
- Conduct basic general maintenance tasks, such as:
- Minor equipment troubleshooting and simple adjustments
- Assisting with shelving moves, small installations, or fixture resets
- Maintain waste, compost, and recycling streams; keep docks and exterior paths tidy and safe.
- Support seasonal snow/ice management and safe entryways (location dependent).
- Identify hazards or facility issues and escalate items requiring specialized trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) to management/facilities.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all Health & Safety, AHS, Food Safety, and WHMIS procedures; use PPE and equipment properly.
- Operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment safely.
- Keep walkways clear, maintain safe stacking heights, and follow ladder safety.
- Complete required trainings and refreshers on time.
Customer & Vendor Service
- Interact with vendors and drivers courteously during receiving windows.
- Provide friendly, solutions‑oriented service to team members and guests on the floor.
- Represent Sunterra’s brand values in all interactions.
Other Duties
- Support department or store projects as assigned by the Grocery Team Lead, Assistant Managers, or Store Manager.
Qualifications
- Experience in receiving, shipping, grocery, retail operations, or warehouse/logistics is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comfortable working in cooler/freezer environments and fast‑paced conditions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
- Clear, respectful communication and effective teamwork.
- WHMIS and Food Safety certifications (training provided by Sunterra).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical Requirements: lift/carry up to 50 lbs; team lift for heavier items; frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching; use of pallet jacks, ladders,
and box cutters.
Working Conditions
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Regular work in temperature‑controlled areas (ambient, cooler, freezer).
- Frequent lifting, pushing/pulling pallets, and maneuvering product in tight spaces.
- Use of standard back‑of‑house equipment (pallet jacks, dollies, ladders, shrink wrap tools).
Other Duties
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Grocery Team Lead, Assistant Managers, or Store Manager.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in receiving, shipping, delivery, or grocery operations preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs (team lift required for heavier items).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- WHMIS and Food Safety Certification required (training provided by Sunterra).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
- Frequent lifting, bending, and carrying of grocery items and boxes.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperature-controlled environments.
- Use of equipment such as pallet jacks, ladders, and box cutters.
- Standing and walking for extended periods; working in tight spaces may be required.
- Occasional driving in urban areas using a personal vehicle.
