Recreation and Events Manager

GolfBiz Inc in Stony Plain, Alberta is seeking an experienced Recreation and Events Manager to oversee golf simulator, pickleball and event centre operations.

This is a hands on leadership position for someone who enjoys creating an outstanding guest experience, leading employees and developing programs that increase participation and revenue.

The Recreation and Events Manager will oversee daily recreation and event operations while working collaboratively with the Owner, marketing and the food and beverage team. Kitchen operations and food preparation are managed separately and are not the responsibility of this position.

The Role The Recreation and Events Manager at GolfBiz Incis responsible for the day to day operation and performance of the golf simulator, pickleball, front desk and event centre areas.

This position combines facility operations, employee leadership, customer service, event coordination, community engagement and business development. The successful candidate will be visible in the facility, responsive to customers and comfortable identifying opportunities to grow memberships, bookings, programs and events.

Facility Operations

· Oversee daily golf simulator, pickleball, front desk and event centre operations

· Manage opening and closing procedures, facility schedules and customer bookings

· Ensure the facility is clean, safe, welcoming and professionally presented

· Monitor equipment and facility maintenance and coordinate repairs when required

· Ensure operating policies, safety procedures and emergency protocols are consistently followed

· Manage court, simulator, meeting room and event bookings

Customer Experience

· Create a friendly and engaging atmosphere that encourages repeat visits and memberships

· Welcome guests and assist customers with the facility, equipment and booking process

· Respond promptly and professionally to customer questions and concerns

· Resolve customer complaints and identify appropriate solutions

· Maintain consistent standards for service, cleanliness and facility presentation

Employee Leadership

· Recruit, train, schedule, supervise and motivate employees

· Establish clear customer service and operational expectations





· Schedule employees according to operational needs and facility activity

· Monitor employee performance and provide regular coaching and feedback

· Ensure employees are trained on simulators, booking systems, facility procedures and emergency protocols

Sales and Business Development

· Grow memberships, simulator bookings, pickleball bookings, lessons, leagues, tournaments and other programs

· Develop corporate and group sales opportunities

· Promote the facility for private functions, tournaments, fundraisers, celebrations and community events

· Develop relationships with local businesses, sports organizations, schools, clubs and community groups

· Identify new programs, partnerships and revenue opportunities

· Monitor booking activity, memberships, event sales and facility utilization

· Develop initiatives to increase participation during slower periods

Event Coordination

· Coordinate private, corporate and community events from the initial inquiry through completion

· Work with customers to understand event requirements and expectations

· Coordinate room setup, staffing, entertainment, equipment and other event requirements

· Collaborate with the food and beverage team regarding catering and food service requirements

· Ensure events are organized, welcoming and professionally delivered

Marketing and Community Engagement

· Work with the Owner and marketing staff to promote the facility

· Contribute ideas for social media content, promotions, leagues, tournaments and special events

· Build awareness of the facility within the local community

· Encourage customer reviews, referrals and repeat business

· Monitor competitor offerings and local recreation and entertainment trends

Financial and Administrative Responsibilities

· Monitor daily sales, labour usage, booking activity, operating expenses and revenue trends

· Prepare operational and sales reports for the Owner





· Provide recommendations to improve facility performance and utilization

· Manage cash handling and point of sale procedures

· Monitor inventory and support responsible cost control

· Contribute operational information and recommendations to budgeting and business planning

· Support compliance with applicable licensing, insurance, health, safety and regulatory requirements within the scope of the position

What You Bring

· A minimum of three years of supervisory or management experience in recreation, sports, hospitality, entertainment, events or a related customer service environment

· Demonstrated experience recruiting, scheduling, training, coaching and supervising employees

· Strong customer service and communication skills

· Experience responding to and resolving customer concerns professionally

· Robust organizational and time management skills

· The ability to coordinate multiple activities, bookings and events

· Confidence working in a hands on, fast paced customer environment

· Experience supporting sales, memberships, business development or revenue generating programs is an asset

· Event planning or event coordination experience is an asset

· Experience with golf simulators, pickleball, recreation programming or sports facilities is an asset

· Comfort using booking, point of sale, scheduling and standard business software

· Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required

Position Details

· Full time salaried position

· Competitive salary, negotiable based on experience and qualifications

· Reports directly to the Owner

· Supervisory responsibility for facility employees

· On site position in Stony Plain, Alberta

· Flexible schedule based on facility needs, including evenings, weekends and holidays
