Reports to: Manager of Recreation
Status: Full Time 35.0 hours/week
Union: IBEW Local 1730
Wage: $26.80 per hour with benefits as per the IBEW Collective Agreement.
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Manager of Recreation, or designate, will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, safety, appearance and accessibility of designated City recreation facilities and surrounding areas. Perform routine and scheduled cleaning and janitorial duties throughout designated areas. Perform minor maintenance, facility-support and operational duties as required.
This position is 35.0 hours per week (5 shifts of 7.0 hours per day), over a 7 day period which may include days, evenings and weekends.
Position Requirements: - Grade 12 Diploma - One (1) year previous experience in caretaking, janitorial, recreation facility maintenance or a related field - Mechanical aptitude and /or experience with facility maintenance considered an asset - Ability to perform physical duties associated with cleaning and facility operations including lifting approximately 50 pounds.
- Demonstrated courteous and polite manner when dealing with employee groups and general public - Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision - CPR First Aid & WHMIS certification or ability to obtain - Must have and maintain valid “G” driver’s license - The successful applicant will be required to obtain and submit a criminal record check and driver’s abstract, at their own expense, prior to start date.
