Pre-Requisite courses by distance: Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratio Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPR) set the minimum number of nurses required to safely care for patients on a given unit. Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses' Union (BCNU), and health organizations across British Columbia, mNPR provides a consistent and transparent approach to staffing that supports secure nursing practice and high-quality patient care.

Education: Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). If the applicant does not possess the required qualifications, PHC will fund Post-Basic Education. The length of the Post-Basic Education is approximate.

Eligibility for Post-Basic Education is restricted to applicant(s) with a minimum of 1-2 year medical/surgical experience (2 years preferred) and who have not received Post-Basic Education Funding from PHC for the past 2 years. Applicant must successfully complete the Post-Basic Education prior to working in the Department. A competitive salary: The salary range for this position is $41.42-$55.91 per hour, depending on experience. Conduct thorough patient/resident assessments through chart reviews, observations, interviews, and collaboration withpeers Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans based on evidence-based practices, prioritizing patient/residentneeds Adhere toestablishedpolicies, procedures, and PHC standards while providing high-quality nursingcare Monitor patient/resident progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed foroptimalresults Maintainaccuraterecords of assessments, care plans, patient/resident status, and discharge plans using manual and computerizedsystems Identifyand address patient/resident and family learning needs, providing education and referrals asnecessary Support nursing research initiatives and contribute to the improvement of patient/resident care policies andprocedures Advocate for patients/residents' rights and dignity,facilitatedischarge plans, and collaborate with families and communityresources Perform additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team.
