As a Protective Services Officer II (PSOII), you will ensure the safety and security of the Albertans we serve. A thorough understanding of legislation, policy, and legal authorities is essential. Fluency in multiple languages and public speaking experience are assets.

Robust communication, relationship-building, influence, conflict resolution, training in harms reduction and critical thinking are crucial. Training in law enforcement, security, or criminal justice is required, preferably with experience or knowledge of working with Indigenous people and diverse backgrounds.

As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff and AHS property including: violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; risk assessment and hazard identification; You will provide support for facility departments on matters of security and safety practices, participates in reviewing and recommending policy, and fosters and maintains positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.

Royal Alexandra Hospital Multi-Site: Multisite Posting End Date: 01-OCT-2026 Employee Class: Regular Full Time Hours per Shift: 12 Length of Shift in weeks: Shifts per cycle: 26 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, On Call Days Off: As Per Rotation Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent.Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General.Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6 weeks program).Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver's Licence.Additional Required Qualifications: Alberta Class 5 operator’s license, or a provincial equivalent, with no more than four demeritsand no charges or pending suspensions.

Preferred Qualifications: A minimum two years of related work experience OR a related degree or diploma.

Experience in uniformed public servant roles or emergency services (military, forestry, park ranger, corrections, peace officer). CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention training and Pressure Point Control Tactic Certificates are also assets. A satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work.
