The Cognitive Brain Health Lab at Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI) is seeking an energetic and experienced individual for a full time Research Analyst position under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Rabin. The successful candidate will join a diverse, multidisciplinary team of researchers in a dynamic and collegial environment and will work closely with collaborators in the Galea Lab at CAMH.
The candidate will primarily support studies focused on menopause and women’s brain health. A major component of the role will involve working with large research datasets, including data ingestion, processing, cleaning, harmonization, management, quality control, and statistical analysis. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong programming skills, including proficiency in R and/or Python and experience working in Linux/Unix computing environments.
Neuroimaging, other medical imaging, or computer science experience would be an additional asset. Later phases of the research will examine brain aging using structural MRI, including brain age measures, with the potential to also investigate resting-state functional connectivity.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Developing and maintaining reproducible workflows for data ingestion, harmonization, quality control, and preparation of analysis-ready datasets across multiple studies and data modalities
- Writing, adapting, and running R, Python, MATLAB, or shell scripts for data cleaning, quality control, and database management
- Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and documentation for data management practices, to support reproducible research and continuity across projects/datasets
- Performing statistical analyses in R, Python, or MATLAB to support ongoing research projects
- Conducting database queries, extracting variables, and generating descriptive summaries from large research datasets
- Contributing to conference abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts
- Potentially assisting with neuroimaging data processing and analysis,
depending on experience and project needs
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- Completion of B.Sc. in the Life Sciences, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, combined with relevant research experience. Master’s an asset
- Experience with research data management, including organization, quality control, documentation, and harmonization of complex longitudinal datasets.
- Proficiency in R and Python including experience with data management and statistical analysis
- Proficiency working in Linux/Unix computing environments, including SSH, secure file transfer, file permissions, and command-line tools
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience working with large research or health datasets is an asset
- Experience with neuroimaging data including processing and/or organization standards such as DICOM, NIfTI, and BIDS is an asset.
- Experience with shell scripting (bash/zsh) for automating workflows is an asset
