The Registered Nurse - Public Health Nurse (PHN) is a key position working in partnership within a multidisciplinary team. The PHN partners with community stakeholders to provide integrated, strength based, family centered care in various settings.

Nursing services include: provision of universal Public Health services including antenatal/prenatal care; routine postnatal care; health assessment, counseling, screening, immunization; referral, linkage, advocacy, consultation, & teaching as they relate to preschool and school aged children, families, adults and seniors. to various work sites. This position requires travel within urban and rural communities during work hours. This position requires the successful candidate to follow appropriate hand hygiene techniques including the regular use of alcohol based hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap.

Experience working with teens, diverse cultures, and marginalized populations and knowledge, understanding and demonstrated use of the social determinants of health and health promotion. PHN is expected to respond with appropriate urgent/emergent interventions and seek medical/ emergency help for patients as needed.

Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications: Ability to be self-directed and to exercise independent nursing judgment. Working knowledge of computer applications including basic word processing, email, and data entry required. Recent experience (within the past two years) working with Connect Care, or an electronic medical record is required. of equipment, carry out awkward and repetitive movements for an entire 8-hour shift, sitting, standing, reaching and/or bending for long periods of time.

When an infant/child/youth/adult faints, able to support a patient's weight of 5-200 lbs. Be able to comply with appropriate hand hygiene techniques, including regular use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Bachelor of Nursing.

Canadian Nurses Association

Certification in Community Health Nursing.

International

Board of Lactation Consultants Certification. Recent experience in Community or Public Health Nursing in the past two years.

Experience working with teens, diverse cultures, and marginalized populations and knowledge, understanding and demonstrated use of the social determinants of health and health promotion.
