Black Deer Transport Inc. is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to oversee and maintain the company's transportation safety and compliance program. The Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations and company safety policies.

The successful candidate will work closely with Drivers, Dispatch, Maintenance and Management to promote a strong safety culture, maintain accurate compliance records, identify risks and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the company's overall transportation safety and compliance program including but not limited to driver logs, truck folders, driver violations, incident/accident reports, claims, IFTA filings, and drivers recruitment.
- Maintain and monitor CVOR compliance and carrier safety performance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable MTO, Highway Traffic Act, National Safety Code and other transportation requirements.
- Monitor compliance with applicable U.S. DOT/FMCSA requirements for cross-border operations.
- Maintain all required safety policies, procedures, records and documentation.
- Prepare the company for MTO, DOT, CVOR and customer safety audits.
- Monitor changes in transportation legislation and update company procedures accordingly.

Required Qualifications





- 3–5 years of transportation/trucking safety or compliance experience, preferably with a carrier operating heavy trucks.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario CVOR and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
- Knowledge of Hours of Service and ELD compliance.
- Experience with driver qualification, IFTA filings and compliance files.
- Experience reviewing MTO/DOT inspection reports and driver abstracts.
- Experience investigating accidents and safety incidents.
- Strong understanding of commercial truck and trailer safety requirements.
- Experience with fleet management, ELD, dashcam or telematics systems is a must.
- Experience with refrigerated/food transportation is an asset.
- Knowledge of U.S. DOT/FMCSA regulations is an asset for cross-border operations.
- Robust computer and documentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and make timely safety-related decisions.
