Support the emotional and behavioral development of students as a School Counsellor for grades 7-12. This temporary contract role at School District #22 runs from October 2026 to June 2027. The position offers a part time, 0.2 FTE role focused on providing necessary guidance to secondary students.
Candidates must demonstrate expertise in behavioral management, career counseling, and empathy for children's needs. Supporting students through various emotional challenges and utilizing programs like Second Step is key to success in this role. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling for behavioral and emotional needs
- Implement career counseling strategies for students
- Develop positive relationships with students and staff
- Collaborate with community personnel for support
- Advocate for student needs and address concerns Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Counseling required
- Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience
- Certification with BC Teachers Regulation Branch
- Experience with conflict resolution and mediation
- Knowledge of intervention strategies This role fosters student well-being through guidance, interpersonal skills, and advocacy.
