Bax Audio Video Inc. is a locally owned and operated company based in Stratford, Ontario, serving clients throughout Southwestern Ontario.

For over 25 years, we have provided technology solutions to commercial, agricultural, industrial and residential customers, specializing in security and surveillance, alarm systems, access control, low-voltage systems, networking and home automation.

We are looking for an experienced Security Systems & Low-Voltage Technician who wants to become a dependable part of our team, takes pride in doing things properly and professionally, and is interested in continuing to develop their technical skills.

About the Position

Please note:This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant hands-on experience in security systems and/or low-voltage installation and service.

This is a hands-on field position for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, problem-solving and providing professional service to customers.

Our technicians work on a wide variety of projects throughout Southwestern Ontario in commercial, agricultural, industrial and residential environments. Work includes new installations, existing-system upgrades and retrofits, troubleshooting and service.

Responsibilities

As part of our technical team, you will be responsible for duties including:

- Install, service and troubleshoot security and intrusion alarm systems
- Install and configure IP and CCTV surveillance camera systems
- Install and service access control and key-fob systems
- Install low-voltage cabling and structured wiring
- Assist with and/or install Wi-Fi and network equipment
- Program and configure security-related equipment and devices
- Perform system upgrades, expansions and retrofits
- Diagnose system, wiring, network and equipment issues
- Read drawings, blueprints and system layouts
- Properly terminate, label, test and document cabling and equipment
- Complete service documentation and job-related paperwork accurately




- Explain system operation and provide basic customer training
- Maintain a clean, organized and professional work area
- Work independently as well as alongside other technicians
- Represent Bax Audio Video professionally while working at customer locations
- Follow company procedures and safe work practices at all times

Qualifications & Experience Minimum 3 years of relevant security system and/or low-voltage installation and service experience is required.

Applicants should also have

- Hands-on experience with alarm, surveillance/CCTV and other low-voltage systems
- Positive understanding of low-voltage wiring, cabling and termination
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Good computer and technology skills
- Basic to strong knowledge of IP networking
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings and system layouts
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Qualified and respectful customer-service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small team

Experience with access control/key-fob systems is considered a strong asset. Experience working in agricultural, commercial or manufacturing environments is also considered an asset.

Physical & Work Requirements

Applicants must be comfortable with the physical requirements of field installation work, including:

- Working from ladders and at heights
- Working in attics, barns, mechanical areas and other confined or restricted spaces




- Lifting and carrying equipment, ladders and installation materials
- Working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
- Performing hands-on installation work for extended periods

Driver & Employment Requirements

Successful applicants must

- Hold a valid Ontario driver's licence with a clean driving record
- Have reliable transportation to our Stratford office
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Be able to provide a satisfactory criminal record check as required for the position
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace and customer safety

Schedule: Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime as required Work Location: On the road – Stratford and surrounding Southwestern Ontario

Compensation

$28.00–$36.00 per hour

Starting wage will be determined based on demonstrated experience, technical ability and knowledge of:

- Alarm systems
- CCTV/IP surveillance
- Access control
- Low-voltage wiring
- Networking
- Programming and commissioning
- Troubleshooting and independent service work

Experienced technicians who can independently complete installations, programming and troubleshooting will be considered toward the higher end of the wage range. Overtime pay is available where applicable.

Pay: $28.00-$36.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 45.0 per week
