Senior Accountant At Greystone Energy Systems Inc., we pride ourselves on delivering innovative products, superior quality, and exceptional customer service. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our Finance team.
The Senior
Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely execution of general ledger functions, month-end closing activities, reconciliations, financial reporting, inventory, and fixed asset activities. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this role plays a key part in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the organization's accounting operations. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner. Review general ledger activity and investigate unusual or incorrectly classified transactions. Prepare financial reporting schedules, variance analysis, and supporting explanations. Prepare monthly inventory ageing reports and assist with inventory adjustments, provisions, and analysis. Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation, and reconcile them to the general ledger. Maintain accurate supporting schedules and documentation for significant accounts. Ensure accounting activities comply with company policies and applicable accounting standards. Work closely with the Accounting Manager, who reviews core accounting activities prior to submission to the Corporate Controller. Assist the Accounting Manager with the external audit by preparing supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation as requested. Take ownership of special projects, accounting initiatives, and process improvements as directed by the Corporate Controller. Experience ~ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting,
Finance, or a related field. ~3-4 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment. ~ CPA designation or progress toward a CPA is considered an asset. Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end and year-end close, and balance sheet reconciliations. Robust understanding of accounting principles and applicable accounting standards.
Experience with financial reporting, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and account analysis.
Experience with inventory and fixed asset accounting is an asset. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve accounting issues independently. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced with ERP/accounting systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with management and cross-functional teams. Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and exercise sound accounting judgment At Greystone Energy Systems, compensation is determined based on several factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market competitiveness.
