Senior Bookkeeper
Two full-time roles · Hybrid in Windsor or remote · Annual Salary $39,000–$70,200
About JH Business Solutions
JH Business Solutions Qualified Corporation is a family-run accounting practice founded in Windsor, Ontario in 2024. We provide accounting, bookkeeping, and tax solutions for businesses and individuals.
The firm focuses on accurate financial reporting, compliant tax preparation, and practical advisory support so clients can manage and grow their operations. Our clients include health practitioners, trades, professional firms, and retailers. Team members will work closely with the team and with clients, partnering with clients to keep financial processes clean and with each other to keep service dependable. The practice values integrity, careful work, and professional development.
Work Arrangement
These are full-time roles. You can work hybrid from Windsor or work remotely if based elsewhere in Canada. The practice is based in Windsor, and we would rather hire locally and work hybrid with the team. If you are not in Windsor and your experience matches the role, you are welcome to apply. Target start is November 1, 2026.
Why This Role Exists
Client demand has outgrown the current team. We are hiring two Senior Bookkeepers, to that file accuracy is maintained rather than stretched across team members with full workloads.
You will take on a real set of clients and help set the standard for how bookkeeping is done as the practice grows. The immediate priority is clean, current files and a reliable month-end. A strong performer can take on complex files, payroll, more client contact, and greater responsibility.
The Role
You will manage approximately 10 to 20 client files. After training, you will deal with those clients directly. If you work from Windsor, you may join client meetings, in-person.
This is not a data-entry seat. You keep the books current, you reconcile, you file what needs filing, and you flag. Within those boundaries,
you are expected to run the recurring work on your files without being directed at every step.
What You Will Own
- Full-cycle bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online for Ontario corporations and sole proprietors, including coding, journal entries, and general ledger review
- Bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and financial reporting when a client or the accountants need them
- Payroll, source deductions, HST/GST returns, and support on Ontario EHT and WSIB
- Month-end and year-end support, including working papers for T1 and T2 preparation, and responses to client questions
- Files kept in order, findings documented, time recorded in QuickBooks Time, and work planned through Asana
Training is provided on Asana and on the firm's file structure.
Who Will Thrive Here The strongest candidate has five or more years of full-cycle bookkeeping and uses QuickBooks Online as a primary system. You already understand Canadian CRA compliance for HST, payroll, and source deductions. WSIB and EHT experience is an asset. So is post-secondary education in accounting or finance, a professional designation, or a CPA in progress.
You may be working now in public practice, a small accounting firm, or as the bookkeeper who already manages client books and records. The title matters less than whether you have personally kept files clean and current.
You will likely thrive here if you:
- Take pride in a clean QuickBooks Online file and do not leave errors for someone else to find
- Can manage several clients at once and still hit month-end
- Write clearly,
keep your word, and treat client information with the utmost confidentiality. Client confidentiality is essential to this role
- Know when to move a file forward and when to escalate
- Want a good place to work, a variety of clients, and room to take on more
This role is unlikely to be a fit if your experience has been limited to data entry, if you have not used QuickBooks Online to complete month-ends or fiscal year-ends, or if you have not prepared Canadian HST or payroll remittances yourself.
What Success Looks Like In the first 30 days you learn the file structure, the clients, and how work is escalated. By 60 days you are running the recurring work on your files with little rework. By 90 days you manage client files: reconciliations land on time, issues surface early, and you are the point of contact for the clients assigned to you.
Performance is judged on the quality of the files, the reliability of month-end, communication with clients and the team, and whether problems are raised before they become emergencies.
Compensation and Employment
- Annual Salary: $39,000 to $70,200 a year based on a 37.5-hour week. Placement in the range depends on QuickBooks depth, payroll, and how independently you can manage client files
- Benefits are available. Details are discussed in the interview and confirmed in writing with the offer
- Employment: permanent, full-time. Start November 1, 2026, or shortly after
How to Apply
Apply through the LinkedIn posting and include your up-to-date resume.
The hiring process includes a review of applications that show real QuickBooks Online experience, an introductory conversation, and a discussion of actual files you have manage. References are requested later, with your knowledge. We will contact the people we take forward.
We thank all applicants for their interest. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
