Position Overview:
Tajikeimik is seeking a Senior Epidemiologist who will work alongside Tajikeimik teams, Mi’kmaw communities,

For an epidemiologist motivated by partnership, innovation, and meaningful impact, this is an opportunity to help redefine what population health measurement can look like when it is grounded in community priorities and
Mi’kmaq ways of knowing.
We are open to exploring flexible work arrangements, such as secondments, job sharing and other innovative approaches.
What you will do:
Specific responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

- Analyzing and interpreting health data from a variety of sources, including linked administrative health
datasets.
- Contributing to monitoring and evaluating Mi'kmaw health transformation initiatives.
- Translating complex findings into accessible, actionable information for diverse audiences; and co-developing
reports, dashboards, community health profiles, and visualizations to inform planning, policy, and program development.
- Supporting data governance practices aligned with Mi'kmaw data sovereignty and OCAP® principles.
- Building capacity through mentorship, training, and knowledge sharing with team members, health centres,
and community partners.
- Collaborating with Mi'kmaw communities, provincial health system partners, researchers, and other partners.
What we are looking for:
- Strong knowledge of epidemiological theories, principles, concepts and techniques, population health surveillance, and advanced statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of data linkage, quality assurance, and confidentiality practices in small populations.
- Advanced proficiency with statistical software such as R, SAS, or Stata.
- Demonstrated experience translating analytical reports into actionable guidance to support decision-making
and population health planning.
- Knowledge of Indigenous data sovereignty principles, including OCAP®.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong commitment to cultural humility, respect,
and collaborative relationship building.
- Demonstrated commitment to Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing) and integrating Mi’kmaw and western
knowledge systems.
- Strong lived experience and knowledge of Mi’kmaw culture and language are considered an asset.
- Knowledge and support of Tajikeimik’s vision and mission, with a personal commitment to advancing Mi’kmaw
health and wellness through self-determination.
Your qualifications:
- Master's degree in Epidemiology or a related field.
- 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in epidemiology, population health analytics, surveillance,
or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience conducting epidemiological analyses, surveillance, reporting, and population health

methods.
- Experience preparing analytical reports and communicating findings to both technical and non-technical
audiences.
