To support our strong growth, we are looking for an experienced Senior Human Factors Engineer / Ergonomics Specialist to support the design, assessment, and validation of complex safety-critical systems.

The successful candidate will contribute to multidisciplinary engineering programs involving operator interaction, control systems, human-machine interfaces, operational procedures, and system safety. The role requires a solid combination of Human Factors Engineering expertise, systems thinking, structured analysis, and the ability to work within controlled engineering environments.

Responsibilities The Senior Human Factors Engineer will be responsible for activities including:

- Plan and conduct Human Factors Engineering and ergonomics activities throughout the system development lifecycle.
- Perform task analysis, workload assessment, human reliability analysis, situation awareness assessment, and operational scenario analysis.
- Evaluate Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), operator displays, alarms, controls, and workstation layouts.
- Support the design and assessment of control rooms, command-and-control environments, operator consoles,



and other complex human-system interfaces.
- Develop and execute scenario-based evaluations and validation activities.
- Identify human-performance risks and support the definition of design requirements and mitigation measures.
- Contribute to system requirements development, allocation, traceability, and verification.
- Prepare and maintain controlled engineering deliverables, technical reports, assessment records, and supporting evidence.
- Participate in technical reviews such as Preliminary Design Reviews, Intermediate Design Reviews, Final Design Reviews, safety reviews, and customer review cycles.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary workshops involving systems engineering, safety, operations, software, hardware, design, and customer representatives.
- Review customer and stakeholder comments and support resolution and closure of technical actions.
- Support compliance assessments against applicable Human Factors, ergonomics, safety, and engineering standards.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Human Factors Engineering, ergonomics, human-system integration, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience working on complex or safety-critical systems, such as transportation, aerospace, defence, energy, industrial automation, or similar environments.
- Demonstrated experience in several of the following areas:
- Human reliability
- Task analysis
- Workload assessment
- Situation awareness
- Alarm management
- Control-room ergonomics
- Human-Machine Interface evaluation




- Operational scenario analysis
- Human-in-the-loop validation

- Experience supporting operator-facing or mission-critical systems such as control centres, command-and-control systems, integrated control systems, operator displays, monitoring systems, or signalling/control applications.
- Experience preparing formal and controlled engineering documentation.
- Experience supporting engineering design reviews, safety reviews, and structured customer comment cycles.
- Ability to work within requirements-management and configuration-controlled environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to facilitate multidisciplinary technical workshops and communicate effectively with engineering teams, customers, and other stakeholders.

Standards and Technical Knowledge Working knowledge of relevant Human Factors, ergonomics, systems engineering, or safety standards is desirable, including some of the following:

- ISO 6385 —
- Ergonomic principles in the design of work systems
- ISO 9241 —
- Ergonomics of human-system interaction
- ISO 10075 —
- Ergonomic principles related to mental workload
- ISO 11064 —
- Ergonomic design of control centres
- MIL-STD-1472 —
- Human Engineering
- CSA Z412 —
- Office ergonomics
- Industry-specific RAMS, safety, or Human Factors standards as applicable

Experience with sector-specific standards such as railway, aerospace, defence, nuclear, or industrial Human Factors frameworks would be considered an asset.

Tools and Methods

Experience with one or more of the following is considered an asset:

- Requirements-management tools such as IBM DOORS or equivalent
- Human Factors analysis tools and structured assessment methods
- HMI prototyping or usability evaluation tools
- Requirements traceability and verification management
