We're looking for a talented individual to…
Support delivery of the Northern First Nation Home Retrofit Program (NFNHRP) by coordinating subcontractor activity, overseeing QA/QC, and processing work orders to keep the assessment and retrofit pipeline moving. As the senior member of the team, this person acts as a second lead: training new staff, actively participating in and adding value to client interactions, and helping resolve escalations. A great fit for someone with a trades or construction background looking to move from the field into operations.
The successful candidate must be located anywhere in Saskatchewan with preferred locations being the Saskatoon or Prince Albert area.
What you'll be doing:
Subcontractor Management
- Coordinate day-to-day subcontractor activity, including scheduling, work assignment, and performance tracking.
- Act as primary point of contact for subcontractor crews, resolving and escalating field issues as needed.
- Lead onboarding and training for new subcontractor partners and team members.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control
- Conduct and/or coordinate QA/QC reviews of field work against program, safety, and building science standards.
- Document findings, follow up on corrective actions, and support continuous improvement of QA/QC processes.
Work Order & Operations Coordination
- Process, track, and maintain work orders across the program pipeline; monitor for bottlenecks or delays.
- Support reporting, file management, and general operational administration, including transitions to new operational systems.
- Coordinate field visit logistics with communities and subcontractors.
Escalations & Client Engagement
- Act as a point of contact for sensitive subcontractor or community escalations, including direct outreach to contractors or participants and follow-up actions required by external bodies.
- Participate in and add value to client interactions, answer day-to-day questions, and support the Program Manager when unavailable.
Field & Community Engagement
- Travel regularly (average a few days per month) to participating Northern First Nation and Métis communities to support field activity and oversee in office work.
- Build and maintain respectful, collaborative relationships with community members, leadership, and housing authorities.
What you bring:
Required
- 5+ years of relevant experience in construction, trades, residential energy efficiency, or program operations.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills; able to work independently with minimal day-to-day direction.
- Demonstrated ability to produce complex, accurate reports that comply with contract terms.
- Experience developing or using tools, trackers, and calculators that support program staff, clients, and contractors.
- Working knowledge of residential building science, home construction practices, and/or energy efficiency retrofits.
- Experience coordinating or overseeing external contractors, subcontractors, or trades, or strong potential from prior hands-on trades experience.
- Comfortable handling sensitive escalations and communicating directly with contractors, participants, and other stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple work orders, schedules, and priorities at once.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record; willing to travel regularly (up to ~20%, including overnight) to remote and Northern communities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to train and support others.
Preferred / Assets
- Background as a tradesperson (carpentry, general construction, HVAC, or similar) transitioning into operations or coordination.
- Building science credential (e.g., BPI), or willingness to obtain.
- Experience engaging with Indigenous communities or organizations, including Northern and remote First Nation and Métis contexts.
- Education or certification related to construction, building science, or engineering.
- Ability to research and apply industry trends to program design and improvement.
Targeted Compensation:
$32-$35/h (equivalent to approximately $66,560-$72,800 annually based on a 40-hour work week)
