Levitt-Safety is looking for an experienced, hands-on technician to join our team in Thunder Bay.
In this field-based role, you’ll work independently at customer sites, represent Levitt-Safety in the community, and help keep people, equipment, and operations safe. If you’re mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and enjoy being the person customers can count on to get the job done right, this is an opportunity to put your skills to work in a role that matters.
This is a Monday-Friday role but could eventually switch to a compressed work schedule either of 7-7 or 14-14. The right candidate must be comfortable to do so. Mechanically inclined but new to fire suppression? We’ll provide the training and support you need to succeed.
What you’ll do
This is a hands-on, field-based role where no two days are exactly the same. You’ll work directly with customers to inspect, service, repair, and maintain fire suppression and other Fire & Life Safety equipment.
You’ll: Inspect, service, repair, and maintain vehicle fire suppression systems and Fire & Life Safety equipment
Perform life safety inspections and audits, identify hazards, and recommend preventative maintenance or corrective action
Provide equipment training to customers and end users
Travel to customer sites, including underground mining environments
Work independently in the field while staying connected with Levitt-Safety’s technical team
Build strong customer relationships through professionalism, reliability, and clear communication
Complete service reports and documentation using mobile technology
Travel approximately 50%,
including overnight and extended trips as required What you bring
You don’t need to have experience in every area below. We’re looking for someone with solid mechanical skills, a willingness to learn, and the confidence to work independently in the field. Hands-on experience working with vehicles, heavy equipment, or motorized equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge
Comfortable using hand and power tools
Fire suppression experience is a strong asset
Comfortable working in industrial and underground mining environments A practical, safety-focused approach and good judgment in the field
Strong communication and customer service skills
Able to work independently while being part of a larger technical team
Comfortable using a smartphone/tablet for service documentation
Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record
Able to meet pre-employment requirements, including security, drug and alcohol testing
Willing and able to travel frequently outside of Thunder Bay What we offer $58,000-62,000 based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity
