Role: SharePoint Architect
Location: Toronto, ON

Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Architect to design, govern, and modernize secure, scalable SharePoint and Microsoft 365 solutions across the enterprise.
The SharePoint Architect will translate business, security, compliance, integration, and migration requirements into target-state architectures, technical standards, governance frameworks, migration strategies, and reusable design patterns. The role will provide technical leadership throughout solution design and delivery while ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, supportable, and aligned with Microsoft 365 best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Define target-state architecture and solution roadmaps across SharePoint Online, SharePoint Server, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Power Platform, and related Microsoft 365 services.
- Design enterprise SharePoint information architecture, including sites, hub sites, navigation, taxonomy, metadata, content types, search, permissions, and content lifecycle management.
- Establish and enforce governance, security, and compliance standards covering provisioning, site ownership, access management, external sharing, retention, records management, DLP, and data classification.
- Lead architecture for SharePoint and Microsoft 365 migrations, including:
- On-premises SharePoint to SharePoint Online
- Tenant-to-tenant migrations
- File-share migrations
- Legacy platform and application migrations
- Own migration architecture covering discovery, assessment, content mapping, remediation, tooling, execution, validation, reconciliation, cutover, and post-migration stabilization.
- Design contemporary SharePoint solutions and integrations using SharePoint Framework (SPFx), Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, PnP PowerShell, and Azure services.
- Define modernization strategies for classic SharePoint sites, legacy workflows, InfoPath/forms,
customizations, and unsupported integrations.
- Develop and maintain architecture deliverables including solution architecture documents, technical standards, architecture decision records, security models, migration patterns, and operational runbooks.
- Lead architecture reviews, proof-of-concepts, technical assessments, and design validation across security, compliance, performance, accessibility, scalability, and supportability.
- Identify technical risks, architectural gaps, and dependencies and provide appropriate remediation strategies.
- Partner closely with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, security teams, engineering teams, vendors, and support/operations teams.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development, engineering, migration, and support teams.
- Ensure solutions follow Microsoft 365 architecture principles, enterprise standards, security requirements, and IT service-management practices.

- Strong expertise in SharePoint information architecture, enterprise content management, search, permissions, governance, taxonomy, metadata, and records management.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, retention policies, sensitivity labels, DLP, eDiscovery, auditing, compliance, and external sharing.
- Hands-on architecture and development experience with:
- SharePoint Framework (SPFx)
- Power Apps
- Power Automate
- Microsoft Graph
- REST APIs
- PnP PowerShell
- JavaScript / TypeScript
- React
- Azure integration services
- Strong experience designing and executing SharePoint/Microsoft 365 migration programs.
- Experience with migration assessment, remediation, execution, validation, reconciliation, troubleshooting, and cutover.
- Hands-on experience with migration tools such as ShareGate, Microsoft Migration Manager, or comparable enterprise migration platforms.
- Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub, source control, CI/CD, and Agile delivery practices.
- Good understanding of IT service-management, operational support, change management, and production governance.
Architecture & Leadership Expectations
- Ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into scalable enterprise architectures.
- Strong experience producing architecture diagrams, technical specifications, design standards, and implementation guidance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex SharePoint and Microsoft 365 architecture issues.
- Experience leading technical design reviews, architecture governance, POCs, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of security-by-design, compliance, performance, scalability, accessibility, and operational supportability.
