Job Overview The Site Supervisor leads day-to-day field activities on an assigned project. Working closely with the Construction Superintendent, project team, crews, subcontractors, and safety personnel, the incumbent coordinates site operations, monitors progress, manages field documentation, and ensures that work is completed safely, in accordance with project requirements, applicable legislation, and Menard Canada standards.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety and Setting

- Ensure compliance with the British Columbia Workers Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, applicable orders, project requirements, and Menard Canada HSE policies and procedures.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure the health and safety of workers under direct supervision.
- Ensure workers, subcontractors, and visitors complete all required site orientations before accessing the work area.
- Identify known and reasonably foreseeable hazards, communicate them to the workforce, and ensure appropriate controls are implemented and maintained.
- Conduct daily pre-start meetings, field-level hazard assessments, workplace inspections, and regular toolbox talks.
- Confirm that required personal protective equipment is available, used correctly, inspected, and maintained.
- Report incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and equipment damage promptly; participate in investigations and corrective actions in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and cooperate with the project safety representative, joint health and safety committee or worker representative, prime contractor, clients, and WorkSafeBC officers, as applicable.

Project Preparation and Coordination

- Assist the Construction Superintendent and project team with mobilization and demobilization of personnel, equipment, materials, and site facilities.
- Verify that access, egress, working platforms, laydown areas, exclusion zones, and site logistics are suitable for planned operations.
- Review drawings, specifications, work plans, schedules, risk assessments, and quality requirements before work begins.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of site equipment, tools, spare parts, and consumables.
- Coordinate deliveries and confirm that materials and equipment are available when required.

Site Supervision and Production

- Direct and supervise field crews and subcontractors, assign daily work,



and confirm that workers understand the applicable procedures and hazards.
- Coordinate ground improvement, testing, earthworks, and related foundation activities in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
- Perform or coordinate basic survey work, including benchmarks, platform elevations, and setting out, as required by the project.
- Monitor daily production, productivity, schedule, labour, equipment utilization, and material usage; identify constraints and escalate issues promptly.
- Ensure equipment pre-use inspections and daily checks are completed and that maintenance concerns are documented and reported.
- Record equipment hours, downtime, maintenance activities, deliveries, quantities, progress, and crew timesheets accurately.
- Communicate regularly with the Construction Superintendent and project team regarding progress, site conditions, changes, risks, and resource requirements.
- Use company applications and digital tools for field communication, reporting, documentation, and record keeping.
- Contribute to project close-out and prepare lessons learned for review with the Operations team.

Quality and Client Coordination

- Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, approved procedures, inspection and test plans, and the project quality control program.
- Coordinate required inspections, testing, and field records; promptly address deficiencies and non-conformances.
- Maintain professional communication with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders while respecting delegated authority.

Qualifications and Experience

- Degree, diploma, or technical training in civil engineering, construction management, geotechnical engineering, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant field experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant construction experience, preferably in ground improvement, geotechnical construction, deep foundations, earthworks, or heavy civil projects.




- Previous experience supervising field crews and coordinating subcontractors, equipment, materials, and daily production.
- Working knowledge of WorkSafeBC requirements and construction safety practices in British Columbia.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, survey information, and work plans.
- Experience with GPS, surveying equipment, or construction layout is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mobile field reporting applications.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to project sites. A clean driving record may be required for company vehicle eligibility.
- Current occupational first aid certification and other project-specific safety training are assets.

Working Conditions

- Primarily field-based work on active construction sites in varying weather and ground conditions.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, night shifts, or out-of-town rotations when required by project schedules.
- Regular exposure to construction equipment, noise, dust, vibration, and uneven terrain, with required protective measures in place.
- Physical ability to move safely around active sites, climb access points, and carry out inspections and field supervision duties.
