About the RoleARC Advanced Power Technologies is seeking a Part time Software QA Tester to help test and improve ARC Project Dashboard, our commissioning-management SaaS platform built for electrical testing and commissioning teams.

You will work directly with the founder and software development team to test new features, validate existing workflows, identify bugs, verify fixes, and help ensure the platform remains reliable as it continues to grow.

This is a hands-on QA role. We are looking for someone who is naturally curious, detail-oriented, and willing to explore the application beyond the expected user path to identify edge cases, usability issues, and unexpected behaviour.

ARC Project Dashboard is used to manage commissioning activity across complex electrical projects, including substations, data centers, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and renewable-energy facilities.

What You’ll Be TestingARC Project Dashboard includes interactive project dashboards, equipment and device tracking, user permissions, project status workflows, deficiencies, documentation, scheduling, and other commissioning-management functionality.

Testing will include both newly developed features and existing functionality as the platform evolves.

Responsibilities

- Perform manual, exploratory, functional, regression, and end-to-end testing across ARC Project Dashboard.
- Test new features before release and verify bug fixes completed by developers.
- Identify functional defects, unexpected behaviour, usability issues, edge cases, and inconsistencies.
- Test different user roles, permissions, workflows, and system states.
- Validate data accuracy, form behaviour, error handling, filtering, search, and other application functionality.
- Test across different browsers, screen sizes, and devices.




- Create clear and detailed bug reports including:
- Steps to reproduce
- Expected behaviour
- Actual behaviour
- Screenshots or screen recordings where appropriate
- Severity and impact
- Perform regression testing after releases to ensure updates have not affected existing functionality.
- Help maintain and improve test cases and QA documentation.
- Communicate directly with developers to reproduce issues and verify fixes.
- Provide concise summaries of testing completed, outstanding issues, and areas of concern.
- Help identify opportunities to improve ARC's overall QA and software-testing process.

Required Experience
- Practical experience testing web-based software applications.
- Strong understanding of manual, functional, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
- Ability to identify edge cases and test beyond standard user workflows.
- Experience writing clear, actionable bug reports and test cases.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to reproduce inconsistent software behaviour.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize testing activities based on development priorities.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Comfortable working directly with developers in a small, fast-moving software team.

Experience in the electrical power or commissioning industry is not required. The ARC team will provide the necessary product and industry context. Role Structure

- Part-time, hourly position
- Typically approximately 10–15 hours per week
- Hours may vary depending on development and release activity, and some weeks may require fewer hours
- Additional hours may occasionally be available
- Initial expected duration of approximately 4 months, with the potential for an ongoing role based on performance and company needs
- Remote
- Preference for candidates located in Canada or able to maintain strong overlap with North American business hours
