The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis.
The Red
River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba. The MMF seeks to fill one full time Community Nurse position within our Health & Wellness Department located in Dauphin, MB .
The Community
Nurse will provide care that is consistent with the MMF’s health approach that is rooted in an understanding of the broad determinants of health and the principles of primary health care, community development, and harm reduction specific to Métis Citizens. Address environmental issues and promote health and wellness to Métis Citizens and their families
• Strive to improve the health of all people and reduce inequities among populations by addressing determinants of health and promote equitable health outcomes
• Provide services in communities, across communities and across the region
• Respectfully work in and with diversity including sexual and gender minorities, and all cultural, spiritual, political, age, ability, family, and economic circumstances
• Support self-determination, encourage self and family participation in health.
A bachelor’s degree in nursing is required. Additionally, at least one of the following is preferred: successful completion of a Public Health Agency of Canada’s Skills Enhancement for Public Health Program content module certificate, a Canadian Community Health Nurses certification, and successful completion of a related course at a master level
• College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba registration required
• International Society for Travel Medicine Certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent, relevant experience and demonstrated competency in public health, primary care / primary health care, population-level health promotion or community development is required;
