Reporting to the Preconstruction Manager , the Student Estimator offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting the pursuit and delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects .

Working alongside experienced estimators, project managers, and operations teams, you will develop practical estimating skills , contribute to competitive bid submissions , and gain exposure to the full project lifecycle from pre-construction through execution . Work alongside Senior Estimators, Estimating Managers, and Estimating Directors to support the development of competitive bids and project pursuit strategies. Gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of major infrastructure pursuits, including bridges, tunnels, highways, and transit systems.

Support the preparation of estimates for a variety of contract delivery models, including Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects. Perform quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents. Update estimating software with quantities, pricing information, and subcontractor quotations.

Assist with the solicitation of subcontractor and supplier pricing for bid submissions. Analyze and compare subcontractor and vendor quotations to support bid evaluations and procurement strategies. Participate in the development of estimate summaries and cost build-ups using estimating software, including Hard Dollar.

Prepare and validate portions of detailed project estimates under the guidance of experienced estimators. Assist with maintaining historical cost databases,



bid documentation, and estimating records. Participate in bid review meetings and contribute to risk and opportunity discussions.

Gain exposure to pre-construction planning, project controls, commercial strategy, and project execution considerations. Currently enrolled in a diploma or degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline. Strong interest in construction estimating, infrastructure projects, and pre-construction services.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, InEight, Hard Dollar, or other estimating software is considered an asset. Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents is considered an asset. Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract is considered an asset.

The expected pay range for this role is $23.00 - $25.00 per hour, with eligibility for overtime. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role. Aecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
