Hours: 2-15 hours bi-weekly (as required by the project schedule with some flexibility in the timing.) Term: To March 2028

This is an excellent prospect to work on a real project following up on previous work by the supervisor. The student is expected to approach the work diligently and commit to completion of their part of the project. The student will grow plants in different soil/compost blends following a study design from the supervisor. The student will care for the plants, grow them for several weeks, then harvest, dry and weigh the biomass. Additional chemical and spectral analyses may also be done.

The student will do basic statistical analysis and contribute to reporting. The student may present results if opportunity and interest are present. Additional lab work with the supervisor may be available pending funding and availability.

Qualifications:

- Must be a current Yukon University Student. An upper-level science student is preferred but any interested science student with previous lab/plant care experience and an ability to work independently should consider applying




- Experience working with and caring for live plants either as a job or with house plants or gardening
- Basic chemistry lab experience
- Basic statistics course or previous experience working with data and statistics
- Experience using Excel
- Student should be able to produce scientific reporting and properly cite any references used. Examples of the student’s written work may be requested.
