The Systems Engineer is responsible for the successful delivery of cloud-based solutions and infrastructure projects, with a key focus on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 (Office 365) ecosystems. This role is ideal for a highly technical professional with strong project execution skills and the ability to handle escalated support requests. In addition to technical delivery, the role includes time tracking, collaboration with project managers, and participation in planning and reporting activities.

ServiceNow experience is a strong asset. We are planning a move to ServiceNow over the next one to two years, and we would value someone who has worked on the platform through that transition. Lead migrations from on-premises systems to Microsoft Cloud services including but not limited to SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Teams.

Deploy and configure Azure virtual environments based on project requirements. Manage tenant-to-tenant migrations as well as cloud platform transitions (e.g., AWS/GCP to Azure).

Project Responsibilities: Participate in project discovery and planning sessions to gather technical requirements and define scope. Assist in drafting project plans, Statements of Work (SoWs), and technical documentation to support project delivery. Track time accurately in the organization’s system for billing and compliance purposes.

Collaborate with project managers to ensure schedules, milestones, and budgets are met. Notify project stakeholders of any technical roadblocks or schedule changes and assist in risk mitigation planning.



Maintain and deliver complete technical documentation and conduct handoffs and knowledge transfer sessions as needed.

Act as a Tier 3 escalation point for technical support teams, resolving complex or high-impact issues. Monitor system performance and proactively address potential issues using available tools.

Use Veeam

Backup & Replication for projects and Disaster Recovery (DR). Conduct regular DR backup testing and ensure proper data retention strategies are followed.

Virtualization & Server Management: Support and manage VMware environments including ESXi/Hyper-V hosts and vCenter.

Administer core Windows Server components such as: Group Policy (GPO) Develop PowerShell scripts for automation of routine administrative tasks. Participate in standardization of configurations and repeatable deployment procedures. 4+ years of experience in a systems engineering or similar technical role. ~ Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. ~ Experience with cloud migrations, especially from on-prem to Microsoft Cloud. ~ ServiceNow experience is a robust asset. Professional

Certifications (CONSIDERED AN ASSET) Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Certified: Familiarity with Veeam Backup & Replication, VMware, and the Windows Server stack. Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols is a strong asset. Project-based mindset with the ability to manage time, documentation, and collaboration effectively.

Identity & productivity – Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, conditional access and MFA across a multi-tenant client base Endpoint management – Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, compliance and configuration baselines, encryption and device health reporting Server & virtualization – Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V and VMware, on-premises and hosted Security – Endpoint detection and response, patch and vulnerability remediation, privileged access controls, security reporting to clients Service delivery tooling – ConnectWise PSA and RMM, remote support tooling, monitoring and alerting Automation – PowerShell and Python against Microsoft Graph and vendor APIs, version-controlled and reviewed Must be able to obtain and maintain a clear criminal record check Work performed primarily in an office environment Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and telephone This role involves working in a variety of environments and includes regular interaction with staff and members of the public Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle for occasional client site visits.
