Tailor / Seamstress – Men's Clothing Alterations

Spier & Mackay is seeking an experienced Tailor / Seamstress to join our retail team. This is a full-time, in-store position available at our Yorkville location in Toronto .

The ideal candidate has strong experience with men’s tailoring and alterations , particularly suits, trousers, jackets and shirts, and takes pride in delivering clean, precise work.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform a wide range of alterations on men’s clothing, including hemming, sleeve shortening/lengthening, waist adjustments, tapering, jacket alterations and other tailoring work
- Conduct and assist with customer fittings to determine required alterations
- Accurately pin and mark garments for alterations
- Ensure alterations are completed to a high standard of fit and workmanship
- Complete alterations within established customer deadlines




- Work closely with retail staff to address fit concerns and determine appropriate alteration solutions
- Identify and resolve alteration or garment construction issues when required
- Maintain an organized and professional alteration workspace

Qualifications
- Previous qualified experience as a Tailor, Seamstress or Alterations Specialist
- Strong experience working with men’s suits, jackets and trousers
- Excellent sewing and garment construction knowledge
- Ability to perform fittings and accurately assess garment fit
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to manage multiple alterations and meet deadlines
- Experience in a menswear, tailoring or retail environment is an asset
