The Tax Specialist is responsible for administering and supporting tax-related activities across registered and non-registered investment accounts. This role acts as a subject matter expert for tax reporting requirements, withholding tax remittances, regulatory account balancing, and tax compliance processes, while providing guidance and support to internal teams.

The Tax

Specialist reviews and resolves tax-related items, performs reconciliations, administers tax reporting obligations, and ensures the accurate completion of tax remittances and reporting requirements. The role also investigates discrepancies, analyzes tax-related notices and correspondence, and coordinates corrective actions as required. Working closely with internal stakeholders, management, and external regulatory agencies, the Tax Specialist contributes to the accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement of tax administration processes while supporting operational effectiveness and regulatory requirements.

Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to internal teams regarding taxation rules, reporting requirements, withholding taxes, and government remittance obligations. Administer and reconcile Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Revenu Québec, and Retraite Québec accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies and outstanding items. Review, analyze, and respond to tax-related notices, assessments, statements, correspondence, and inquiries received from regulatory agencies.

Coordinate and process withholding tax remittances and other government payments, ensuring legislative deadlines and reporting requirements are met. Administer annual and ad hoc tax reporting activities, including the review, balancing, generation,



amendment, cancellation, and reissuance of tax slips and related reporting files. Investigate and resolve tax reporting discrepancies, rejected filings, balancing issues, and account reconciliation exceptions.

Monitor regulatory and legislative changes impacting tax reporting requirements and support implementation of process, procedural, and system updates. Develop, maintain, and update tax administration procedures, controls, and supporting documentation. Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and risk reduction related to tax administration activities.

Interpersonal Skills: Establishes professional working relationships, is flexible/adaptable, works well with others and solicits feedback. High school Diploma is required. ~ Finance services experience or related field of study is an asset. ~2 - 3 years of Financial or investment industry experience is preferred. ~3 - 5 years of administrative experience is an asset. Advanced knowledge of Canadian registered and non-registered investment account taxation, including RRSP, RRIF, TFSA, RESP, FHSA, and non-registered account reporting requirements.

Strong understanding of CRA, Revenu Québec, and Retraite Québec reporting, remittance, balancing, and compliance requirements. Proven ability to analyze tax-related discrepancies, reconcile complex account balances, and resolve reporting exceptions. Robust research, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to interpret legislation, regulatory guidance, and government correspondence.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and systems used for tax reporting, reconciliation, data analysis, and regulatory filing activities. Requires a thorough understanding of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies and procedures. Intermediate level with Adobe, Outlook, SharePoint, other Microsoft Office products and internet applications.

Thorough understanding of how the Investment Account Services Division operates. Bilingual in French and English communication both written and spoken is an asset.
