Qualifications

Job Summary The Team Leader is responsible for living a blended leadership role which balances administrative and pedagogical leadership within their specific site at Maple Tree Preschool Non-Profit.
The Team
Leader will manage their time to complete administrative tasks and duties related to the general operations of the center. More importantly, they will prioritize and value their work side-by-side educators in each of their site’s programs, being a collaborator, thinking partner, coach, and mentor to educators. They will use positive mentoring and coaching strategies to support the growth of their team members, striving to offer enriching and intentional early learning programming – ensuring their team is embedding all elements of How Does Learning Happen and The Code of Ethics and Standard of Practice into their programs and practice. This role will work in close collaboration with the Pedagogical Leader as they create a shared vision of how to best support their educator teams.
Through this journey, the Team Leader will strengthen their own knowledge and understanding of pedagogical best practices in the early years, early intervention strategies, leadership, coaching and mentoring; Maintaining a growth mindset and ongoing commitment to professional learning and growth will be essential.
The Team Leader will also use time management and organizational skills to ensure administrative and clerical duties are completed efficiently. Ensuring they are completing intentional goal setting alongside educators will allow them to create a strong vision of how to balance their time in program and in the office.
The Team Leader will also prioritize creating a positive work culture, where every child, family, and colleague feels a sense of belonging, well-being, engagement, and expression.
Administrative Duties and Responsibilities – Team Leader will:
- Complete monthly tasks: Invoicing, Subsidy schedules, Children’s attendance, Staff attendance, Leave days, Termination Day, Stat holiday payment for P/T families, 9+ hours, CSW hours used
- Follow up with daily attendance to ensure completion
- Verify payroll and submit to ED
- Monitor flushing for lead is completed
- Complete playground assessments
- Monitor the waitlist for enrollment and maintain regular waitlist cleanup.
- Establish and update children’s records
- Follow up with payments
- Complete annual licensing documentation
- Complete and follow up with any serious occurrence
- Comply and rectify any health and safety concerns brought forward by the Health Unit, parents, or community partners
- Research and complete their own professional learning and growth.
Overview of General Schedule – The Team Leader Will:
- Will spend a of three hours per day in program, side-by-side educators:
o Ensuring Educators are feeling supported and have a sense of belonging, well-being, engagement, and expression. o Spending time in both the indoor and outdoor program.
o Co-learning, observing, questioning, reflecting, and dreaming forward together.
o Offering constructive feedback.
o Checking in on and supporting Educators during their weekly prep time.
o Following up on intentional goals co-created with educators.
- Cover in ratio as needed.
- Support the team by covering lunches as needed.
- Have the ability to work flexible hours as needed.
- Have the ability to work a closing shift a minimum of two days per month.
- Take part in monthly coaching connections with the Early Learning and Leadership Mentor.
- Take part in monthly leadership meetings with other MTP-NP Team Leaders, Pedagogical Leaders, Early Learning and Leadership Mentor, and the Executive Director.
Pedagogical Leadership, Coaching and Mentoring – Team Leader Will:
- Organize monthly coaching and reflective connections with each individual educator.
- Review Educator Portfolios, reflect on programming, discuss feedback, and create professional goals with educators – ensuring completion and follow-through.
- Follow-up in program and offer intentional mentoring based on the goals they have created alongside educators.
- Focus on building positive, trusting, skilled relationships and leading with care and compassion for all.
- Value empowering the leadership in others and aim to build up those around them.
- Offer positive recognition and highlight the strengths of others, using andragogical documentation as a tool in this process.
- Follow the lead of others – seeking to understand prior to being understood.
- Ask questions and take part in collaborative reflection with others – supporting educators in finding solutions based on best practice rather than doing/finding solutions for them.
- Lean into curiosity and wondering as opposed to judgement and assumptions of others.
- Be open to the ideas, opinions, perspectives of others.
- Offer constructive feedback as it is essential for growth.
- Hold educators accountable to the significant and complex work that they are trusted and privileged to take part in.
- Challenge the status quo and not be afraid to push others out of their comfort zone.
- Advocate for the approaches and practices that children deserve.
- Lead by example – living agency vision/mission/values, policies/procedures, Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
- Be brave to start courageous conversations and hold educators accountable to live up to our agency vision, mission, values, and our Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
Educator Accountability – Team Leader Will:
- Ensure educators are living in their role and responsibilities as outlined in their job descriptions.
- Ensure educators are completing their educator portfolios.
- Ensure educators are offering intentional programming based on the individual interests and needs of children.
- Ensure educators are biding by our internal policies/procedures, our agency vision/mission/values/ and program statement, How Does Learning Happen, and our Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
- Ensure educators are following through with their goal-setting and professional learning. Will follow the Professional Development Plan and Six Step process as needed.
Family Partnerships – the Team Leader Will:
- Work in strong professional partnership with families, parents, and caregivers.
- Invest in creating warm, responsive relationships with families.
- Seek out and be open to feedback offered from families.
- Ensure educators are intentionally and meaningfully connecting with families during drop-off and pick-up.
- Ensure each family feels a sense of belonging, well-being, engagement, and expression.
- Promptly respond to parent questions, concerns, or constructive feedback.
Collaboration with the Pedagogical Leader – the Team Leader will:
- Work together to create a shared vision of support for their team.
- Work together to create, invest in, and maintain a positive work culture and culture of reflective practice.
- Take part in clear, open, and honest communication with each other.
- Have professional, strength-based, and constructive conversations about their team that pertains to professional goals and growth moving forward.
- Maintain confidentiality and create safe and trusting spaces to share perspectives, insights, opinions, and ideas.
- Collaborate to bring new initiatives, projects, and ideas forward to their team.
- Follow up on educator goals and collaborative work when Pedagogical Leader is offsite.
- Work in tandem to ensure team members are following MTP-NP policies and procedures.
- Work in tandem to ensure team members are following our Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
- Work in tandem to follow onboarding protocol when training new team members.
- Refer to specific guidelines provided in Pedagogical Leader .
Collaboration with the Site Designate – the Team Leader will:
- Coach, mentor,
and collaborate regarding day-to-day operations to ensure they are supporting the Site Designate in feeling confident to take over duties when Team Leader is offsite.
- Work in tandem to ensure team members are following MTP-NP policies and procedures.
- Work in tandem to ensure team members are following our Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
- Refer to specific guidelines provided in Site Designate .
Collaboration with the Early Learning and Leadership Mentor – the Team Leader will:
- Take part in monthly coaching connections focused on their leadership role.
- Discuss ongoing goals, educator coaching, initiatives, and other leadership work being completed alongside the team.
- Co-create professional leadership goals and maintain growth and evolution that will be discussed monthly.
- Complete monthly professional learning and critical self-reflections.
- Will take part in Professional Development Plans as needed, in collaboration with the Early Learning and Leadership Mentor and Executive Director.
Collaboration with Community Partners (CCR, CGS) – the Team Leader will:
- Build strong, professional relationships with community partners.
- Maintain open and honest communication with community partners.
- Follow up on relevant goals, recommendations, and action plans provided by community partners.
- Reach out to community partners for support as needed.

Pay: $37.42-$46.52 per hour Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
