is seeking a Technical Consultant who will join our Cayenta Managed Services (CMS) team within Managed Services & Technical Operations. As a Technical Consultant, you will help manage and maintain the technical environments that support our customers' Cayenta ERP and Customer Information Systems. You will work across system administration, database administration, troubleshooting, maintenance, monitoring, customer support, and eventually cloud infrastructure.
This is a hands‑on technical role for someone who enjoys solving problems, learning how systems work, and taking ownership of customer environments. You will initially focus primarily on on‑premises customer environments, with opportunities to expand into Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud operations as the Managed Services offering continues to grow. You will work closely with other Managed Services team members as well as Cayenta Support, Technical Services, Development, Business Intelligence, and other teams to maintain reliable, secure, and stable customer environments.

In Managed
Services, you will encounter unfamiliar configurations, technical issues you haven't seen before, incomplete documentation, and situations where the first answer you try doesn't work. Test safely. Use AI tools responsibly to help research, reason through possibilities, interpret information, and accelerate troubleshooting.

The successful candidate will be comfortable incorporating AI-enabled tools, copilots, chat‑based assistants, scripting, and automation into their everyday work where appropriate.

Team members are expected to validate outputs, protect customer and company information, and follow applicable security, privacy, and compliance requirements. You will serve as a primary or secondary technical consultant for multiple Cayenta Managed Services customers and help ensure their environments remain reliable, secure, stable, and well maintained.
This remote role welcomes candidates anywhere in Canada and the US. 75K - 85K CAD We are committed to leveraging emerging technologies to improve how we work, serve our customers, and drive business outcomes. Candidates should be comfortable using AI enabled technologies, including copilots, chat based AI assistants, and automation tools, as part of their everyday work while maintaining appropriate judgment, security, and compliance standards. Manage multiple Cayenta ERP and/or Customer Information System environments simultaneously.
Perform SQL Server database administration and support environments that may also include Oracle. Perform system administration for customer application and infrastructure environments. Monitor customer environments and proactively address conditions that could affect availability, reliability, security, or performance.
Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes,
and coordinate resolution across teams when necessary. Manage technical work through our ticketing systems and maintain clear, accurate updates. Perform regular system administration activities including product releases, patching, updates, configuration changes, and maintenance.
Build a strong understanding of each assigned customer's environment, configuration, dependencies, and operational requirements. Identify recurring problems and look for opportunities to eliminate them through better processes, automation, monitoring, or documentation. Build productive, long‑term customer relationships and communicate technical information clearly and professionally.
Prepare and deliver customer reporting containing relevant information about environment health, maintenance, risks, and activities when required. Participate in the team's 24x7 on‑call rotation when required. Perform scheduled evening or weekend activities when customer maintenance windows require them.
Help administer highly available Azure infrastructure supporting Cayenta applications.
Maintain
Linux and Windows virtual machines and related Azure services.
Support
Azure database, storage, networking, and security services. Configure and maintain services such as Azure Storage, Key Vault, Microsoft Entra ID, and single sign‑on. Help ensure cloud environments are designed and administered with an emphasis on availability, reliability, security, recoverability, and scalability.
Develop scripts and automation for deployment, monitoring, administration, and maintenance. Configure and maintain Windows Server and desktop operating systems. Support or co‑lead disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution for Azure environments.
Support Active Directory Group
Policy and Microsoft Azure/Entra policies such as Conditional Access. Monitor cloud environments and help identify performance, capacity, security, and reliability concerns. Participate in cloud implementation or migration projects as your experience grows.
Create, update, and improve internal technical documentation, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and procedures. Document new solutions and lessons learned from unusual or complex technical issues. Participate in daily team discussions related to service delivery, deployments, customer environments, and operational improvements.
Prepare and participate in knowledge‑transfer and training sessions with other team members. Share discoveries and technical approaches that could benefit other customer environments. Participate in internal projects that improve Managed Services tools, processes, monitoring, automation, or service delivery.
Work collaboratively with Cayenta Support, Technical Services, Business Intelligence, Development,
Product, and other teams to investigate and resolve complex issues. Summarize technical findings. Identify better ways to monitor or maintain customer environments. 3+ years of experience in technical support, system administration, managed services, infrastructure, database administration, or a related technical role;
Experience with or strong working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server. ~ Working knowledge of system administration concepts in Windows and/or Linux environments. ~ Some experience with or knowledge of Microsoft Azure. ~ A demonstrated ability to investigate technical problems independently and work through unfamiliar issues. ~ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while knowing when collaboration or escalation is appropriate. ~ Strong customer‑service mindset and the ability to develop trusted customer relationships. ~ Comfort balancing multiple customer environments, priorities, and deadlines. ~ Experience with Apache Tomcat, including configuration, hardening, and SSL certificates. ~ Willingness to participate in weekend schedules or alternative workweeks when required, including Tuesday‑Saturday or Sunday‑Thursday schedules. ~ Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation when required. ~ Comfort responsibly using AI‑assisted tools as part of technical investigation, research, scripting, documentation, and everyday work.
Experience administering both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
Microsoft
Azure administration or cloud infrastructure experience.
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft AZ‑104, or AZ‑305.
Experience with infrastructure or application monitoring tools. Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, certificates, DNS, and related infrastructure concepts.
Experience supporting or delivering Azure implementations or migrations.
Experience with identity and access management, including Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
Experience explaining technical concepts to non‑technical customers or stakeholders.
