assesses and resolves software and hardware problems on PCs and network systems; refers major and unresolved software problems and hardware malfunctions to appropriate technical specialists and/or vendors; Installs and configures new and upgraded software and hardware; Provides training and support to library staff and customers on various software applications, including library-specific software and other general software application in an individual or small group setting recommends policies and procedures related to the use of equipment and software Collaborates with other library staff on IT projects, including planning, designing, and implementing new systems and technologies Develops and maintains the library's website, including designing and coding web pages, ensuring website functionality, and updating website content Keeps abreast of developments in computer software and hardware; estimates costs for future systems and maintenance and equipment replacements Considerable knowledge of library information systems, including integrated library systems (ILS), discovery layers,
and library-specific software applications Considerable knowledge of practices and procedures related to the installation and operation of computer hardware and software used in the work Considerable knowledge of the policies and procedures governing computer operations as related to the work performed Sound knowledge of telecommunication systems, audio-visual systems, and networking technologies Sound knowledge of problem definition and solution techniques applicable to the work performed Understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles Ability to investigate, document, assess and resolve hardware and software problems and to liaise with vendor representatives and technical specialists on the more complex problems Ability to design, develop, and maintain library websites, including creating web pages, graphics, and multimedia content Ability to setup test environments, identify test plan and conduct quality assurance on the work performed Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical library staff and customers in a clear and concise manner Completion of a certificate program in computer sciences or related discipline at a technical or post-secondary institution, plus sound experience in IT technical support, preferably in a library setting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience 39.75 - $46.79 per hour Re-assignments of weekly schedule or daily shift and/or location will take place as operational needs dictate.
