Job Summary

Wanderlust Kitchen is hiring a dependable kitchen production worker to assist with making and packaging our shelf-secure, plant-based meals.

This is hands-on work in a commercial kitchen located in Leaside/East York, close to Eglinton Avenue East and Laird Drive.

Initial schedule

Monday, October 5 to Thursday, October 8

2:30–8:30 p.m. each day

Applicants must be able to attend all four initial shifts.

Further production runs are booked for October 13–15, October 19–22 and at least two weeks in November. The person selected may receive these additional shifts and future recurring work based on reliability, work quality and production requirements. Future shifts generally start between noon and 2:30 p.m. and last five to seven hours.

Typical duties

- Washing, chopping and preparing ingredients
- Assisting with cooking and production
- Weighing, portioning and packaging products
- Loading and unloading dehydrators
- Washing trays, utensils and production equipment
- Cleaning and sanitizing work areas and large equipment
- Completing other general kitchen tasks





A considerable portion of every shift involves cleaning and sanitation. The successful applicant must be comfortable thoroughly cleaning large equipment, including steam kettles, and repeating sanitation procedures when necessary. Shortcuts are not acceptable. You must be punctual, dependable, able to follow detailed instructions and receptive to feedback. The work requires standing for extended periods, performing repetitive tasks and safely lifting 30–40 pounds.

Commercial kitchen or food-production experience and a Food Handler Certificate are helpful but not required. Training will be provided.

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
