Posting Scope: Internal / External Posted Date: September 22, 2026 Parks & Recreation Monday to Friday from 7:00AM to 3:30PM , Shifts may vary based on operational requirement ( 40 hour work week) – Long Term Disability (LTD) – Term Unknown Salary: $42.13 per hour, Pay Grade 10 Employee Group: This is a CUPE Local 50 position Auxiliary status employees will be paid an additional 15% in lieu of vacation, holiday, sick leave beyond the statutory requirement, and other perks, per the CUPE Local 50 Collective Agreement. Coordinate and participation in Park hard infrastructure work at a trades level. Assemble, construct, install and maintain various park, playground, and sports field infrastructure such as park furniture, pedestrian and vehicle barriers, signage, play structures, sports and fitness equipment, pathways, chain link and wood fences, stairs, retaining walls, drainage and drinking fountains.

Construct forms and pour concrete pads, conduct routine inspections of park, playground, and sports field infrastructure. Operate and maintain various tools and equipment such as drill, saw, grinder, compactor, jackhammer, level, trencher, operate vehicles, tractors, and excavators. Maintain a variety of records, sketches and reports for maintenance and new installations.

Operate a variety of vehicles, perform equipment maintenance, report repairs required and damage to equipment, maintain fuel and equipment supply for staff at various work sites. Determine appropriate materials and equipment as required.



Complete daily and seasonal work records and equipment slips.

Occasionally respond to enquiries from the public, City staff and outside agencies regarding general parks information. Lift and move heavy equipment and material. (Work in an environment where protective measures must be taken to avoid exposure to paint, primer, and glue. (Understand and apply the techniques of carpentry, painting, finishing, plumbing, metalworking, concrete finishing, playgrounds, and landscape construction.

Formal

Education, Training and Occupational Certification: High school graduation. Completion of 2-year Horticultural Diploma or completion of 4-year BC Trades Qualification in landscape horticulture or an equivalent Diploma or Trades Qualification in a related field. (Current and valid Class 5 B.1 year of experience at trades level or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May be requested to substitute in a more senior position.
