With strong teams and a commitment to continuous improvement, Humber River Health continues to deliver Tomorrow’s Healthcare, Today We are currently looking for a Unit Aide for to join the Critical Care/Intensive Care Unit Employment Status: Part Time Hours of Work: Must be available for all shifts including weekends Location: Humber River Health Wilson site Labour Group: NOWU Service Reporting Relationship: Hourly Rate: $27.758 - $28.306 Unit Aide duties within the Intensive Care Unit Transportation clean stretchers, carts, medical/surgical equipment/supplies, patients, specimen etc. Appropriate distribution and collection of supplies, equipment, instruments, trays, etc.
Ensures that sufficient supplies are on hand for patient care until the next ordering shift.
Acts as a liaison with SPD, volunteers and ICU/CCU team members Help move the patient within the department including assisting with patient transfers Understands and demonstrates support for the hospital mission, vision and values. Participates in quality assurance activities. Sterile processing certificate or the ability to demonstrate the knowledge, skill and judgement in the decontamination and processing of sterile supplies and instruments Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate preferred Understand and adhere to hospital policies and procedures including Infection Control policies, uniform dress code, cell phones and all other devices and mandatory legislation such as; Human Rights Code, Confidentiality policies and safety procedures.
Proficient in basic computer skills including email, MS Office Two years of recent related hospital medical/surgical supply experience preferred. Hospital experience preferred and Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset. Demonstrated ability to speak, read and interpret the English language (written and verbal) Knowledge of the Wilson site for delivery of urgent specimens or equipment Knowledge of protected handling of sharps and biomedical waste Good working knowledge of medical supplies and sterilization.
IPAC precautions and associated disinfection of equipment and supplies Physically able to push stretchers, lift and store linen and surgical supplies,
clean stretchers Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment. An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.
