Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Veterinarian role based at Norgate Animal Hospital in Vancouver, BC. The Veterinarian will perform clinical examinations, diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, and provide medical, surgical, and dental care for companion animals. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing patient histories, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and delivering preventive care such as vaccinations and wellness checks.
The role involves communicating clearly with clients about diagnoses, treatment options, and home care, as well as maintaining accurate medical records and collaborating with veterinary technicians and support staff. The Veterinarian will also contribute to hospital protocols, participate in case discussions, and support an environment focused on safety, ethics, and animal welfare.
Qualifications
- Licensed (or license-eligible) Veterinarian (DVM or equivalent), with strong clinical skills in small animal medicine and surgery.
- Proficiency in diagnostic workups, including physical examinations, laboratory testing, imaging interpretation, and treatment planning.
- Experience with routine surgical procedures, anesthesia, pain management, and post-operative care.
- Ability to provide preventive care, including vaccinations, nutrition counseling, parasite control, and wellness plans.
- Excellent communication and client service skills, with the ability to explain complex medical information in clear, supportive language.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with veterinary technicians, reception, and other team members in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Strong attention to detail, record-keeping accuracy, and adherence to professional standards, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Comfort with basic practice management tools and medical record systems; openness to learning new technologies and workflows.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, evidence-based medicine, and high standards of animal welfare.
- Previous small animal practice experience is preferred; recent graduates with strong clinical rotations and references are also encouraged to apply.
