Petzoic Vet Hospital

Alberta

Company Description

Petzoic Vet Hospital is a locally owned veterinary hospital in Tsuut'ina, Alberta, immediately adjacent to Calgary, built to support veterinarians in practicing exceptional medicine. Our collaborative team has access to advanced diagnostics and treatment options, including CT, ultrasound, digital radiography, endoscopy, a comprehensive in-house laboratory, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. With a boarded surgeon, a veterinarian with a focused practice in neurology, and rehabilitation services through our partnership with Petfinity, we can offer patients and their families comprehensive care across diagnosis, treatment, surgery, and recovery.

We believe great patient care comes from thoughtful medicine, strong teamwork, excellent client communication, and giving veterinarians the tools and support they need to do their best work.

Role Description The Veterinary Hospitalist is a full time position focused on the care of our hospitalized medical and post-operative patients.

You'll examine hospitalized patients, investigate and work up medical cases, recommend appropriate diagnostics, develop treatment plans based on your findings, adjust those plans as results and clinical response guide you, and monitor each patient's progress throughout their stay. You'll coordinate care with the veterinary team, communicate closely with clients, and see patients back for follow-up care after discharge.

This role is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys inpatient medicine and takes pride in being thorough and detail-oriented—someone who keeps track of what has been investigated, what still needs attention, and what each patient needs next.

If medicine is where you want to focus your time, it can be. If you enjoy surgery and would like it to remain part of your practice, we can incorporate opportunities for surgery into your role.

Qualifications

- DVM (or equivalent) and eligible for licensure with the ABVMA.
- Experience managing hospitalized patients, with strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment-planning skills.
- Thorough, organized, and detail-oriented, with the ability to coordinate the care of several hospitalized patients simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and maintain attention to each individual case.
- Excellent client communication skills, including the ability to explain medical conditions, recommendations, and treatment plans clearly and compassionately, adapting your communication to each client and their individual needs.
- Strong leadership and communication skills when working with the veterinary team.
- Commitment to current, evidence-based medicine and ongoing professional development.
- Experience in emergency, critical care, internal medicine, or hospital-based practice is an asset.

Experienced veterinarians are preferred, but we are open to exceptional candidates earlier in their careers who demonstrate strong clinical judgment, organization, communication, and a genuine interest in inpatient medicine.
